Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1 - Failure in the convergence circuits. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a shadowing words and figures - 0667c5f.pnglem.

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed. Notice how dull the colors are and how white the screen looks. Theshadowing words and figures - 9e7eb5b.jpg also look red, orange, dull, etc.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

3" shadow on left side of screen

watch for speakers being to close to the tv. if a speaker has a big magnet on the back of it, it will cause it to have the shadow and then it will turn green. so make sure there is nothing with a magnet close to the tv because it will ruin the tube on the tv.

Sony kdf-e50a12u rear projection lcd bravia. red shadows

This is due to you having a projection tv, some projection tvs are really bad for game playing and especially if you have a hdtv. even in the p23 manual it says that you shouldnt use with a projection tv cause it can damage your tv's screen permanently. I personally still play mine but, thats likly the problem.

Plasma TV viewing tip

When watching a plasma TV make sure that your room lighting is with in 1/3 of the distance between the TV panel and your seating position ( when measured from the screen end ). In other words, if the TV is off you should not be able to see the light source on the blank screen from your seating position. This method can reduce a lot of eye strain while viewing .

Acer Monitor

I have no idea about the game connection, don't add to many questions to this, as you can research that stuff yourself as you are now a expert in your own eyes. There is a driver for that monitor located on the Acer website and they offer a 3 year warrenty on the monitor. I doubt the driver will fix your issue, but it is at least worth a shot.
If what you say is true, then it looks like to me you've tried just about everything that can be tried and I would lean toward explaining to Acer why you need a replacement monitor.

Bright shadows

Is this a convergence problem? Did you try adjusting the convergence? IF the bright shaddow is also colored, that might be it. See this discussion:
