Question about ACE Dimplex (r) Compact Electric Fireplace (DFP36430) Heater

Replace Bulbs in Dimplex HUR20 (HURSEY) OPTIFLAME FIRE

Volts: 240/50Hz - Watts: 2180 - Elements: 2000w

When the heater is switched on, it normally has a coal effect display, except all the bulbs are now blown. The heater other than the blown bulbs is in good working order.

3 Bulbs needed to be replaced in the Dimplex HUR20 (HURSEY) OPTIFLAME FIRE heater. (They all had blown at this stage).

I safely removed the 3 bulbs which were blown via the front of the cover of the heater, They had not been replaced in years. Following the removal of the bulbs, I got confused in putting back the components that I had to take out to access the bulbs. None of these were electrical and no electrical elements of the heater were disturbed.

The guarantee on the applicance has well expired. Any documentation that came with the heater is gone. I moved into the house with the heater present and all bulbs were working. I do not know where the heater was purchased. I do not intend to purchase a new heater. I am a student.

Could you please provide detailed instructions (visual as possible) as off how to put this heater back together from the stage of the removal of the bulbs to stage on having the unit back together as normal.

I have searched the internet but I have not found anything. This does not mean the information is not on the internet.

Picture(s) available of heater on request.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you very much.

Dimplex dakota heater is working but flame effect is not its led I think not bulbs.

Says you can turn it on and off? Did you knock the switch?

Can I operate the flame effect on the fire without the heat?
All our Optiflame and Opti-myst fires can be operated on a flame-effect only setting, as can the flickering flame effect on our freestanding bar fires.

Is the flame effect expensive to run?
No, to run the flame effect involves powering light bulbs and a small electric motor and in most cases costs no more than a couple of pence an hour. Some of our fires have LED lamps fitted which are even more energy efficient.

Some have bulbs, some have LED.
Example calculations:
Using UK standard average price of electricity of 14p/kWh (source: Energy Saving Trust Feb 2015)
Optiflame LED flame effect only (eg Danesbury) = 0.1p every hour
Optiflame conventional bulb, effect only (eg Cheriton) = 2p every hour
Opti-myst, flame effect only (eg Oakhurst) = 3p every hour
Opti-V single screen = 0.5p every hour
2kW fan heater, on constantly (no thermostat) = 28p every hour

Optiflame lightbulbs for sale. Remove the coals and check for bulbs.

Fire was working fine, then flame effect stopped. Heater still works on both settings, but no flame effect. Tried new bulbs, but still no flame effects, any ideas?

If it is not the bulbs, it is often a melted switch or circuit board.

I have 2 Dimplex DS4411 fireplace heaters. One has the fire display, but does not heat. The other has heat, but no fire display. How do I fix it?

The fire display is a simple replacement of the light bulbs that produce the effect.
The heater issue could be a bad temp sensor, or a bad heater.

How do I change the bulb in my dimplex wynford inset fire?

On the back of the cabinet, about 3" to 4" up from the bottom, you should see a removable rectangular panel. Removing it, will give you access to the bulbs. Which are 60 watt, small base chandelier bulbs.
Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it, before removing the rear access panel.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Purchased "Reliance Lowboy electric water heater"

The water heater has two 4500 watt elements.
However both elements are not turned-ON at same time
So the water heater is 4500 Watts

Volts x Amps = watts
Amps =watts divided by volts
Amps = 4500 Watts divided by 240 Volts
Amps= 18.75

So that says a 20 amp breaker ... except for the 80% rule
80% rules says for safety, your Amp rating should be multiplied by 80%

20 amp breaker X 80% = 16 amps
20 amp breaker is actually safe for just 16 amps, and your water heater draws 18.75 amps.

The calculation shows you need a 30 Amp breaker.
30 Amp breaker requires 10 gauge wire.

How to replace fire bulb for Dimplex HTN20

I wanted an answer to this too. It was hard to find, but here we go.
Get hold of a torch, and look closely at the decorative surround at the bottom of the fire. There are two screws hidden in there, on each side! See below:

Unscrew these, and you can take the front off, and get at the bulbs.

For information, the fire takes two screw in bulbs, described as 240V – 60W E14 SES Clear Candle Lamps.
Hope this helps.
