Question about Frigidaire FPHB2899PF Professional 27.8 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerat
I had to pay a repair man to come out already once he changed the evaporator fan and said that it would take up to 8 hrs to get cold again, it never did , I had to call him back out the next morning and he could not seem to find the problem he said he would investigate and get back with me, he is no longer answering my phone calls and it has been over a week the my refrigerator is not cooling properly, how can I find the problem with out having to pay another repair man ?
Error Codes: SF EF - Points to a lack of air flow over the evaporator coils. This could be a problem with the evaporator fan itself, frozen or blocked coils, a bad sensor, broken wire between fan and main board, or a bad main board. It is up to the tech to figure it out based on your description of the problem, his observations, and by testing the parts that can be tested. IE: wiring should be tested for continuity and proper power.
Can you give me anymore information. Like, does the compressor run constantly, does the evaporator fan run, are you able to see if the coils are frozen, Is the fridge cooling at all and not getting cold enough? Anything that you can tell me would be helpful.

Testimonial: "The evaporator fan is working and the coils are not frosted over , i'm not sure about the compressor. the freezer stays at 0 degrees and is working fine , the refrigerator stays at 50 degrees or so, i have noticed a couple of time it has gotten cooler to 40 degrees . The error code sy ef still has not gone away. The repairman said he checked all the electric and everything was working fine, he said he was going to talk to someone else because he couldnt figure out the problem .. he pretty much took my $250 and ran and now i can not afford another repair man right now. Today i unplugged the refrigerator to see if this will help and reset the refrigerator"
I feel for ya but nothing you can do besides report the first technician to the BBB and hire another, more reputible one

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Yes that is the correct part number.
If a new cold control does not correct the problem. Replace the compressor start relay.

SOURCE: refrigerator does not get cold
In your freezer section, there should be a "control" for the freezer temp. I say "control" because the knob is attached to a flap that only controls airflow the the lower section. If the knob is turned to coldest it will block almost all of the air from getting into your fresh food section.

SOURCE: frigidaire frost free upright freezer gets cold, reaches temp and cycles off but wont start back up until I turn the termastat to off and then back on. Gets cold again but repeats the same thing again
I have seen cold controls fail this way. Check cold control switch in the failed position. www.on-timeappliance.com
