It looks like your system comes with one serial COM port. IT usually runs as COM 1. Most computers will also allow USB to be COM ports. To check what is going on have equipment plugged in and go to your 'Device Manger'. You can get there by opening the start menu or Windows logo on the bottom left corner of your screen and type in Device Manger into the search area. It should be under "ports" but could be somewhere else such as "USB". See if you can find COM 3. When found, right mouse click and select uninstall. Then restart your computer with the equipment unplugged and see if this fixes the problem. If not we can try something else.

How ck if serial port is working (Dell e5500)

You can only check it by connecting and serial cable. Drivers are automatically installed so no driver required.. 99% of the time serial port is ok but you are probably not using proper serial cable, there is straight cable and there is null cable in serial. You have to make sure which one is required for your purpose and get proper one.

Can't get into BIOS of E5500

Boot the laptop and watch the screen for which key it says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup. You have to hit the key when you see the message.

Hello I need a driver for the touchpad to scroll down and to the side. I'm working on the Latitude E5500. Thanks, Jasper

Go to www.support.dell.com andselect "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have theproper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installedreturn to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "servicetag", (serial number) of the laptop. Dell keeps a listing of drivers forevery customer's computer they sell.

M.saeidi2020@gmail.com Please help me with bios password for my dell latitude E5500 Service tag: HHGMF4J-2A7B Please help... Thank you in advance

The BIOS-password exists for _your_ protection; if a thief is in possession of your computer, the password prevents the thief from using the stolen computer.

As the owner of the computer, find the original sales-receipt, to prove ownership, and telephone Dell, to get assistance from Dell to bypass that password.

Dell laptop model latitude e5500 serial port one pin is broken. What can i do.

Hello there
Many serial port pins use several of the pins but sometimes not all of them It depends upon how the serial port is wired internally on which pins it uses.
But if yours indeed does not work you will have to have it replaced by a computer repair shop or sombody that is able to unsolder the old one from the board and have a new one resoldered one this generally costs about
100 dollars ok hope this helps
Best regards mike
