Find the ground and hot wire for your starter from the iginition and hook the ground on one side of the toogle switch and then the hot wire. Flip the switch on and it should start your car.

Bypass bmw antitheft system

There is no easy way to bypass the immobilizer on this car without switching to a red label ecu and cutting wires OR having your ecu reprogrammed without the immobilizer. A better question is why are you doing this? If you are switching ECUs, you can usually have a new EWS module programmed for $75-100.

If you have had the dreaded spinning key and are planning on switching columns, you can usually drill and pin/screw the tumbler in less than 30 minutes and avoid the hassle all together. The other option is to swap key/module/immobilizer module all at once.

If you have already swapped the column, keep your old key and decoder ring, tape them together, and stick them up under the plastic of your new column - problem solved.

As you can see, the answer starts with a different question - what are you trying to accomplish.

Good luck!

How to install avh-p5700dvd with a toggle switch

if your looking to wire it through toogle switch instead of say ign. switch run the wire labeled 12 v. switched (i think usually yellow wire) through toggle and have toggle run off battery. (im taking it maybe you wanna do this so you can run player w/out having ign. switch on) remember that 12 v. constant (usually red) has to maintain power at all times to keep clock/memory on player.

N0 crank bat volt good at starter switch output good to to ews (electronic driveway protection control unit)but no output. Is thire a reset.

there is a rolling code that goes between the key and ews module. Aligning the ews and the key sometimes fixes the problem. (performed with bmw diagnostic equipment)Usually keys will fail over time due to the fact of how they are treated. If you have battery voltage at the largest post on the starter. I would check to see if while holding the key in the start position if there is voltage at the second largest post on the starter. this is the starter enable wire. if you see voltage on that wire then the ews system is working properly and the starter needs replacement. i would also try using a spare key, if you have one, to see if that fixes the problem

hi markjones, the ignition switch can usually be removed without too much disassembly. First you will need to remove a plastic screw in the upper and lower trim covers. Seperate the covers. You should see a black plastic ring around the mechanical switch. gentley remove the ring. Next remove the rubber o-ring/band. With the key in the iginition and turned to almost to position 1, insert a heavy duty paper clip, or bmw special tool (about $30 from the dealer) into the small hole in the switch. There is a cam in the hole that needs to be twisted clockwise so the cylinder can be removed. When installing a new switch make sure to remove the little tab pice of metal that usually breaks off in the housing. Also be sure to make sure and reinstall the rubber ring/band because they are part of the ews system. If you key turns continuously, or is not able to be removed, the ignition housing and cylinder both will need replaced. Replacing the lock housing is about a 2 hour sequence and can be challenging. I would recommend a shop for that kind of repair.

This is for your car DVD player right, so you can bypass the parking brake? Any toggle switch at a car parts store will work fine - it doesn't have to be illuminated (that would serve no purpose in this case anyhow). Just a simple on-off $3 switch will work fine. Take the peach wire, extend it for ample wiring reach, run it to ground, figure out where you're going to mount the switch and mount it up, and cut the wire at that point. Put male blade crimp-on terminals on each of the cut ends, and plug them onto the switch, and you're done.
