My DVD player has worked excellently for almost 10 years. Uncertain if that's the problem. All the buttons on the remote and on the front panel seem to respond--one way or another. This is a Sony CD/DVD Player and the number on the front of the operator's manual is DVP-C660, and this is a 5 disc player, although I've never tried more than one disc at a time. The problem: Place a dvd in the Disc #1 slot, close the tray. The front display says: 'All Discs', with an area to to the left that shows: CD Videos DVD CD All five disc indicator lights above that, are lit. The tray seems to revolve and one at a time each light blinks out with an accompanying 'beep'. Finally, the display blinks 'no disc' and finally just stops at 'insert disc'. This happens no matter what DVD I put in, whether or not I press 'Play' or allow the player to complete it's own cycle. Would really, really appreciate advice. Also, if it turns out that I will need a new one, can you make a recommendation? Obviously, I don't really need a multiple changer. Do I really need to get a BLUERAY PLAYER? I've been unimpressed with what I've seen of Blueray discs and I've have over 500 regular DVD's. Sorry to be so rambling. Thanks for your time and attention.

Sony DVP-S7000 DVD player does not respond to front panel buttons or the remote control

The only possible solution and it is a long shot, unplug unit from wall receptical, now press and hold power for 60 seconds, this will drain any residual voltage and reset the microprocessor in hopes it will work. If this fails I recommend the sony technician.

HOW DO YOU TURN OFF PROGRESSIVE SCAN

Try this: with the unit on, but no disc inserted, press and hold STOP button on the front panel, not the remote - for 10 seconds, then release. This should turn the progressive scan off and restore your picture on TV (interlace should be the default setting in the DVD player). This trick works for Zenith DVD players as well.

How to unlock region code for Yamaha-DVD-S1800-DVD-Players

This worked last time I tried it. As with all region hacks you must first ensure that the remote has fresh batteries inside.

1. Switch the DVD S1800 on using either the remote or the front panel button.
2. Open the disc loading drawer and leave it open
3. Using the remote control press the "Clear" button.
4. Use the remote keypad to type in "2580".
5. Now press "Subtitle" on the remote.
6. Close the disc loading drawer.
7. Wait until the player has finished the loading cycle
8. Switch the device off using either the remote or the front panel switch.

When you turn the player back on it should be a region 0 (i.e. multi-region) player.

I hope that this has provided the answer you require, if so all I ask in return is that you remember to rate my answer.

Problem was solved by Holding down the "ENTER" button for no less than 10 seconds and after releasing it press "SYSTEM MENU". This will take you to the setup screen on your TV.
where all settings can be made from there by following the on screen directions.

I have had the same problem. After disassembling and refitting the buttonpanels and it's connectors the problem was solved. Does not seem like a repair but in my case it still works for about two years now

Sampo DVE-611 apparently powers up from front panel switch (w/red light) LCD display, etc. No other buttons work, incl. eject. Remote completely unresponsive. Unit shuts down about 10 sec. later. Anyone...

After several power ups, the front panel buttons eventually "woke up". Replaced remote, and everything's working fine. Not sure why the front panel was temporarily unresponsive.

DMR-ES30V remote and DVD panel buttons not responding

I assume you have fixed this by now, but if not, call panasonic's help line (number is in your owner's manual). They will walk you through the complete reset process (maybe 5 minutes). you will have to re-program everything the same as you did when it first came out of the box, but that doesn't take too long. Also, first try taking the batteries out of the remote. Make sure they are still good. Wait 60 seconds or longer, then replace batteries.

Child lock?

To turn on the dealer lock function: Turn the DVD player on. Press the Stop button on the front panel and the Power button on the remote control simultaneously for four seconds. Note: When the dealer lock function is active, DEALER LOCK ON or DEALER LOCK OFF scrolls on the FLT display. this is from samsung's site
