Lumina Dehydrator Accessories

Does anyone know if you can buy drying sheet inserts for making fruit roll-ups for the ALDI's LUMINA food dehydrator. I went to the Lumina website but they don't even list the dehydrator as a product...

SOURCE: FOOD DEHYDRATOR FAN NOT TURNING ON

all around the inside of the motor there will be coils of wire that are wound up really tight with the two ends of the wires comming out, there will be a few of these or in some case alot, the next logical step in troubleshooting this would be for you to take a multimeter and set it on the ohms scale. you will then connect one lead to one end of the wire and the other lead to the other end, be carefully not to touch them with your fingers while you are testing or it will give an inacurate reading, if the reading gives a number, that means the coil of wire is good. if it gives an error message or an out of range message, this means that the coil is good. repeat this process with each coil of wire, if all of the come out with a reading that is a number. they are all good, if not, then you will most likely have to replace the fan motor. if they are all good, repost saying so, and i can further help you from there

What is Food Dehydration all About

Food dehydration is a very long standing way of preserving food. In modern times, food dehydration machines have been developed, allowing people to dehydrate their food at home.
Dehydrators work by removing the moisture from food thus allowing them to last for much longer.

Because the water is removed at a very low temperature, the nutrients and enzymens of the food are not destroyed and that's why dehydrated food is seen as part of the healthy food movement.

How do you use a food dehydrator?
1. Wash and dry the foods you want to dehydrate
2. Arrange the slices on trays. Try and avoid overlapping.
3. Set the temperature using the guide. Generally the lower the temperature the greater the preservation of vitamins and nutrients.
4. Keep an eye on the trays, turning them in the dehydrator.
5. It can take anything from a couple of hours up to a day to dehydrate food, depending on the moisture levels.
6. When the food is ready store it in airtight plastic bags or containers.

Enjoy experimenting with your food dehydrator. It's fun for kids as well and is a great way of preserving fruit and vegetables when you've overbought or can see food would otherwise go to waste.

What is a Food Dehydrator Used For?

Not a lot of people have heard of food
dehydrators before – but there is a growing trend amongst health fans to use
food dehydrators as a major tool in their goal in pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

What is a food dehydrator?
It’s basically a machine that can
dehydrate fresh food using a fan and low temperatures. It removes the water
from food but manages to maintain the enzyme levels, so for it’s a good tool
for those wanting to follow a raw food diet.

Is it only good for raw food diets?
Whilst a food hydrator is good for raw food diet buffs, it can also be used by
anyone wanting to make healthy snacks at home without having to pay the high
prices charges in health shops.

What kind of snacks can you make in a
food dehydrator?

You can make fruit rolls, or your own
trail mix. You can dehydrate fruit and vegetables when you have an excess and
they would otherwise get ruined and even make your own beef jerky!

In my opinion, food dehydrators are not just a gimmick, but for those who take
their healthy diets seriously, it’s a great tool.

My North Bay Food Dehydrator has vents on top & bottom. I need the settings for dehydrating Hot Peppers. Can you tell me where to find the settings?

You will need to experiment with the settings on your individual machine to know which setting achieves what temperature, but when you do the attached photo will give you a good range of temperatures for each type of food i.e. Meat/Fruit/herbs/etc 1_4_2014_3_42_47_pm.png

Hi I purchased a Nesco food dehydrator at a yard sale and need a manual for it . Model fd60, can I print one off the internet for this model?

I would think that any dehydrator information would work for you.
You just have to be sure the components are working (ie. fan and heating coil.) A dehydrator is pretty basic.
http://www.food-dehydrator.com/food-dehydrator/books.aspx here is a link for books on a site that sells the product.
You can find a lot of books at the library too.
This might also help, dont let the name fool you: http://www.astray.com/recipes/?show=Dehydrator%20general%20instructions
With some searching on line you will be able to find a lot of instructions and probably even ones for your specific dehydrator.
Look on forms about drying foods and ask for the basic instructions if you find you really need them after looking at the links above.
There might be someone willing to scan them and email them to you.

What is the plastic solid removable plate with the hole in the center for inside the dehydrator

I finally found out this is a Ronco dehydrator. The plastic plates have nothing to do with dehydrating but are for making fruit leather. We had bought the dehydrator used and it only had one plate. We had a difficult time figuring out what it's use was since it came without instructions. Ronco didn't put their name on the dehydrator either.
