Question about GE GTWN2800DWW 3.9 cu. ft. capacity top load washer

Open Question

Agitation is very slow

Just got this 2 days ago and tonight I tried it for the first time. The agitation speed is very slow, "it's like gentle swaying" for normal/regular wash.

SOURCE: GE washer WJSR4160G0WW agitation is way too fast & hard

check the 4 rubber cords at the top of the tub. If the washer has been moved they may need to be adjusted, you can see them by looking between the top of the tub and the top cover. You can turn them with your hand, and you may need to tighten them after.

SOURCE: Kenmore washer agitate very slow

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question%$^#%&

My washer has slow aggitation which im willing to live with, but tonight the water will not drain out of the machine andmthe spin cycle quit working.

time to get in a technician to quote on the repair --probably a program board or timer switch that is the root of all the problems
Slow agitation is a bad wash action so have it fixed back to new or junk it depending on the quote

Kenmore 110.25852400 lid switch is sticking, inconsistently engaging. Is it possible to hotwire the switch connections to make it agitate?

You can bypass the lid switch and the only danger is if a small child or person opens the lid during high speed spin and actually try to reach in a grab something. How often does that happen. That is the only function of that switch, for safety at the time of the cycle.

Amana top loading washer-weak agitation for 1-2 minutes then fine

weak agitation ??? i would not suspect timer, i would first check your dial settings, moakin sure a knob has not been changed to gentle/gentle. instead of normal /normal.. if that is not it, i would perhaps, look into tenson of belt or a faulty brake(common if brake pads fail there is no "resistance" on hte wash.. you can check this by removing the lower acess panel and look for broken peices of brake pads, under the unit. similar to car brake pads

Washer problem

THE SPEED SELECTOR SWITCH MAY BE SHORTED CAUSING THE MOTOR TO TRY AND RUN ON BOTH THE LOW AND HIGH SPEED WINDINGS. THIS WILL PULL TOO MUCH CURRENT AND TRIP THE BREAKER.
THE MOTOR WINDINGS FOR THE HIGH SPEED COULD BE SHORTED CAUSING EXCESSIVE CURRENT DRAW.
