IP4000 powers on for only one second and then dies

From the service manual, this complaint is caused by a power supply problem.

To repair, one needs to replace the power/logic board. This requires updating the EPROM after installing the board.

Solution - trash it and buy a new printer.

My canon ip4000 was working perfectly until yesterday. Suddenly it won't print the correct colors. Sometimes the nozzle check looks perfect, sometimes some colors are low, sometimes colors are mixed...

It could be a few different things but letys try the easiest first. Go into control pane/jprinters/ and do a deep nozzel cleaning. leave the printer idle for about a hour or two before trying to print again. You may have to repleat this procedure. If this does not fix your problem it could mean that you need to update a driver for your printer or that you have changed your colour settings in a graphic program such as adobe. Failing all else you may just need brand new cartridges. I have a canon i860 and found a very inexpensive site online to order the cartridges for a few dollars each. even if you don't need the cartridges right now check out the site and stock up.

I have a Canon Pixma IP4000 and keep getting this message: The printer is updating the firmware. Turn the printer off and then back on. If this message appears again, update the firmware once more. No idea...

What I suggest is that you go to this site http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=357&modelid=10239 and select the Operating System that's on your computer and download the latest drivers and then install them. This should correct any problems that you are having Bud
