SOURCE: No microphone works

Hi,
I work for Dell and had the same problem.
Try this:
Take the card out of the PCI slot and reinstall it. Then go to the creative support website and download all the updated drviers for the card. ALSO, and this may sound blindly obviously but the soundblaster has many connections on it make sure you are plugging it into the correct connection and that you have enabled the soundblaster in the systems settings ie- turn the on board sound off.
Hope this works,
Rob

SOURCE: realtek audio device with sound effect menager

First thing is first, there should be 3 audio jack inputs. Line in, Line out and Mic. Make sure you are plugged into the Mic input.

Next if you are running windows XP check to make sure the Microphone volume is not muted and turned up. Do this by going to control panel --> Sound and Audio Devices --> volume tab --> Advanced button. The Microphone volume should be there if not select file --> properties and make sure microphone is checked. It should then appear on the volume controls.

This should take care of it if not what program are you using the mic with?

I cannot get a desktop microphone to work. My pc does not recognise it and tells me I don't have a sound board installed

Are you using the microphone input jack in the back of the computer or on the front panel? Since this is an Asus board I am guessing someone built it and it wasn't bought from a manufacturer. That being said it could be the builder did not hook up the front panel connectors to the correct pins on the motherboard board, or did not hook them up at all. Try hooking up to the back and go to the control panel sound properties and check the settings there for microphone.

New installation, transmission garbled using it with gmail talk this is voice certified pc desktop microphone. Realtek HD Audio Manager

The problem isn't with your microphone. I'm using a Shure PG-48 Professional Stage Mic through an analog mixer board into a Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal!ty and still get garbled transmissions, but only on Google Talk.

Google Talk is still in it's early stages, so a lot of bugs still need to be worked out. Also, your internet connection speed has a lot to do with it. When I moved to a city that had T3 internet, my garbled transmissions were fewer.

Hope that helps!

Very bad echo, on my NEW Acer laptop 8730G-6945

I had this problem for months - I finally figured it out on my own...

Go to your RealTek HD Audio Manager (this is either a red speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner or if you go to 'control panel, sounds speak and audio devices, realtek hd sound effect manager)

once you have the window open, under 'sound effect, go to environment and to the right of the drop down menu, click 'RESET'.

After months of trying to fix this issue, this fixed it for me!!! I hope it does for you too!
