SOURCE: My cousin bought a Phillips Portable DVD player

Question Can I change the region code on my player so that I can play DVD / Blu-ray disc from other regions? Answer South Africa is region B for Blu-Ray DVD and Region 5 for DVD and finding the procedure will be difficult as international copyright legislation prohibits manufacturers from providing instructions for changing the region code.

Ran out of region changes for Acer Aspire 5920G laptop DVD drive, stuck on region 1, would like to change it to multi-regional, can you help tell me how?

  1. Look at your DVD player and find the name of the company that produced it. Then, find the product number. For example: a DVD 622 model from Phillips.

  2. Go to a website such as dvdhacks.co.uk/ to find DVD hack codes. The players will often be listed by the company name first and model number second. If you can't locate your DVD player on the website, type the model number and the company into a search engine to see if any other sites have the hack there.

  3. Follow the steps on the website. Here are the steps for the Phillips DVD 622:
    1. Hold the stop button on the remote until the disc tray opens.
    2. Press the numbers 2812 on your remote to access the region menu.
    3. Press the OK button to set the region code to 9.
    4. Turn the player off and wait several minutes.

  4. Test your DVD player with a previously unplayable DVD. If it doesn't work, check the web to see if there are any other codes listed for your player.

Wrong region

Change your region to multi-region so it can play discs from any region but please check the instruction manual to ensure that changing the region does not void the manufacturers warranty.

Turn the DVD player on, and press "open" on the remote control or on the machine itself.

Press this code into the remote: 789

Press OK, then press 0. A "0" should appear in the lower left side of the screen. For Phillips, zero is the code number for multi-region. In place of the zero, you can also press the number of the specific region you want to play.

Play the disc to check if it works.

Want to know how to set my LG dvd/hdd player to multi region

IF there is a code for it you will have to check on some of the sites that have region hacks for DVD players. Not all players have the capability of changing them to region free. I looked to see if your model was listed on a couple of the sites that have directions, info and or firmware updates to change region settings on various makes and models of players, and I didn't find yours listed anywhere. It may use methods from other LG models, but you have to do a little research, some google searches and a little trial and error. Keep in mind that applying these hacks can render your unit inoperable and not recoverable. You might want to look into getting an inexpensive player from Phillips, Durabrand, Apex or one of several other manufacturers that are easy to find codes for and simple to change region coding, and in alot of cases cost less than 50 USD. Phillips are the easiest to get codes for and they are reasonably priced in most department stores like Target and Walmart or at Best Buy and Circuit City. Durabrand are Walmart brand players that cost 25 or 30 dollars and they are easy to do as well.

Hope this helps
