You need to change your TV's settings and enhancements. Directly from the store and out of the box, the settings are adjusted for easiest sell in the store. That means that:
Your contrast is cranked to 100. Move this down to 50 to 60.
Your brightness may also be cranked up high. Lower it to a level nearer the middle range but not so dark as to lose detail in the shadows.
Your TV is set on "Dynamic" or "Vivid" mode. Pick "natural" or "normal" or standard.
Your sharpness is at least on, if not cranked up. Turn sharpness down or off, and the same with "Edge Enhancement" and "VSM", all to off.

Lastly, I bet you upgraded size and you are now sitting too close to the TV. Roughly, if you are sitting closer than 130 inches (about 11 foot) you might do some rearranging or save some money and get a smaller TV.

First of all do you have a HD signal?
these sets are made for HD and most look good when you set the HD box to 1080i , the cheaper sets do not look good with a non HD signal.

I used an extreme 32gb memory card with my Nikon 80 and first time ever-got grainy-poor resolution pictures. How can I improve their quality

Try changing the ISO setting from AUTO to 100. Fast ISO speeds create more grainy photos. The SD chip should not have any affect on sharpness. Either you ISO is too fast, or your shutter speed is too slow. You might also try formatting the sd chip using the menu on the camera.

I have a 1080 with 120 and my picture is not clear. If it's not a hd channel it really is terrible and if it is hd channel it still is not in full focus. The picture is not sharp. I am really disappointed...

I am assuming your set is new. Ask for it to be serviced under warranty. This sounds like your set is defective for some reason.
LCD TV sets are known for their exceptional sharpness and performance when having a good quality signal source, and especially with an HD programs.

Just bought a toshiba 42av635db and the picture is very grainy, any ideas?

Dear shaunamlynch,
Try to adjust your display properties and choose the color depth mode by sliding it up or down and choose the best color mode (Better to set the on the TRUE COLOR (Highest)). Apply and reboot!

Good Luck!

Very poor quality pictures; grainy.

This is easily fixed - go into MENU and you will find a picture quality Q. This is designed to go from FINE - Medium - POOR in order to enable you to take more photos on you cameras memory. Install at least a 1gb memory stick into your camera and then choose HIGHEST QUALITY you will now be able to get plenty a photos at the highest quality possible gor the camera with an 8.2 megapixal those photos should be really nice. Le40m86bdx picture not sharp

I have a two and a half month old Sharp, LC-19SK24U-W. It was fantastic with fantasic, clear, beautifully colored picture until two weeks ago. All of a sudden, the picture starting getting darker and darker. Nothing had been adjusted from day one when I set up contrast, etc. This comes and goes but most of the time is an issue. I can make it a bit lighter but then it is so fuzzy and grainy it is a very poor picture. Also, while this began, one time the television turned itself off and then back on without a power surger or anything.

HELP!

Picture not HD quality while watching HD channels

Make sure you are using an HDMI video cable for optimal picture quality. Also, you must be using an HD reciever.
