Tx-sr575 7.1 - is there any use in connecting and old power amp and equalizer to this receiver? If so, how?

Ya mean like to hook up Bose 901's? Nevermind.

Utility is in the imagination of the dreamer.

Any analog processor can occupy the Tape Out/In loop. However, it will only affect stereo analog sources and, once engaged to monitor, it will disable any digital audio source.

An external amp COULD be slaved off the tape Out (or the anticipated EQ Out, but it won't be volume-controlled by the Onkyo. You would need an AVR with at least Front L/R pre-outs.

Qualifier: I have 901's in a 7.1 setup and have written many posts on Fixya regarding how to do it right.

NEVER USE MAXIMUM VOLUME FOR ANY PURPOSE UNLESS THE RISK OF ACCIDENTAL SPEAKER DESTRUCTION IS A ACCEPTABLE.

ONLY now it does that? "VERY WEAK" as in attentuated somewhat or is it signal leakage, effectively silence? How is the EQ wired in? Check its own Tape Monitor button.

If you DO NOT have a separate amplifier for the 901's the EQ will affect EVERY speaker and we know that is NOT desired.

If the EQ is in a Tape Loop of a modern AVR and you activate the loop two things will happen: 1) the 901's will sound better and the rest of the speakers will be at risk from excessive amplitude at the extremes; 2) any digital source will be disabled.

I just bought an Onkyo TX-SR806. Can it accommodate our existing Bose 901 speakers, which I did not want to replace? Trying to get the Active Equalizer in the loop to no success

Short answer from personal experience.

There is no way around this part. Get a separate power amp for the 901's if you want to use them in a multichannel way.

Connect the EQ between the pre-outs and the amp input. Run speaker assignment, levels, etc and have fun.

If you don't have sufficient between-speaker room for proper reflection off the front wall you CAN turn them around and you won

I just enherited a pair of bose 901 speakers

My suggestion is do not hook the 901's directly to the Onkyo. It is compatable, but they WANT more than what the receiver can give them. I suggest going and getting a dedicated amplifier for them. Trust me, you'll be a lot happier going that route.

How do i hook my bose 901 equalizer into deno

The Bose EQ connects to the tape out and tape in on the amplifier or reciever. If you were using these for a tape deck, you will then have to connect the tape deck to the tape in and out on the Bose EQ.

No. Active Equalization is required for the 901's and not to be used with any non-901 speakers.
