Hello There

Can you please try the following:

1. Clean the rollers with a slightly damp cloth towel and allowed them to dry for one hour.
2. Make sure the paper is laying flat and is not pushed too far into the printer.
3. Adjust the arm in the paper tray so that it's snug against the paper but not squeezing or smashing it in any way.
4. Unplug and reboot the printer
5. Make sure the tray isn't too full.

If the above dosn't work and your printer is still under warranty you should call HP who will replace it free of charge including delivery. You can ring HP to find out if your unit is under warranty, the warranty ranges from 1 to 3 years depending on Model.

Hope This Helps. Please don't forget to rate me.

Many Thanks

Its a sensor problem.when you give the print command the feeder pulls the paper inside and pushes it towards the sensor to sense it.once the paper is sensed by a sensor the printing is processed.if the sensor is faulty the paper wont be sensed and it wont print.so once the print is cancelled the feeder pushes it out.and the paper comes out without any print. its a common problem but repairs are to be done on the pcb circuit.in some cases the sensor needs to be replaced too.
ok but before all the above just try two simple things.sometimes this simple things like a shorted faulty usb wire also causes this.so change the usb wire and try.also try reinstalling the drivers again.as the faulty driver will only send the command to feeder and not the actual print to the printer.so once you check this two things then you can move on to sensor repairing if the problem still exists.
thanks for using fixya. please do not forget to accept the solution.keep updated.

Hp j6480 printer wont print keeps sending a paper mismatch message

Paper mismatch errors occur because the product scans the width of the envelope before printing. If the paper size setting in the printer driver does not match the paper actually loaded in the product, the product reports a 'Paper Mismatch' error. The message saves paper and ink by preventing print jobs from accidentally printing on the wrong paper. For example, the print job might be for a 101.6 x 152.4 mm (4 x 6 inch) photo, but there is letter-size paper loaded in the product. The error message displays to make sure that ink is not wasted on the wrong paper type. try this out , disable the automatic paper type sensor.
  1. Open the Print dialog box.
    1. In Word 2003, click File , and then click Print
    2. In Word 2007, click the Office button (c01850900.gif ), and then click Print .
  2. Make sure that your product is in the Name drop-down list box, and then clickProperties .
  3. Click the Features or Paper/Quality tab.
  4. In the Paper type drop-down list, click Plain paper .
  5. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
  6. Click OK again to print the current print job.

This may not help everyone that I send it to, but it is worth a try.
I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press
the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer.
The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
