Big buddy Heater - 20 lb tanks won't keep pilot lit,

I had the same problem I called tech support and they said to turn the valve on the 20# cylinder on very slowly for the first 1/4 turn then all will be fine. There is an excessive flow check valve that causes restricted flow when the valve is opened quickly----------mine works fine now

Mr heater fan starting to make noise when starting

try taking apart fan housing & look to see if fan blade is scraping the housing. next look to see if fan blade is secure to fan motor shaft.next look to see if fan motor bearings are worn egg shaped and try oiling fan motor bearings with sae 30.
somewheres amoung all this inspecting of the fan motor, you will find the cause of the problem and learn what new parts you may need to buy to fix it.

Im on my 2nd big buddy and both of them the fan has gone out, the first on went in a week, and this one last a couple of months.

fans
1. oil the bearings, sae 30 or wd40 for places you cant get into.
dont take fan motor apart unelse you realy have to.

dont let your fan motor bearings get worn egg shaped from lack of oil.
2. make sure fan blades not hitting or scraping fan housing and fan blades are securely fastened to fan motor shaft.

3.mr heater fan motor is 12 volts DC , so it may have a segmated comutator and brushes.

I dont know because i have not yet needed to take my mr heater
fan motor apart but i have worked on hundereds of ac fan motors
in the past 65 years.
4. keep fan motors from getting wet. they hate water.
5. keep fans clean, they dont like foriegn materials.

Your specific problem: first fan 2 weeks, second fan 2 months.

how much you use them, are you wearing the brushes down?
Getting fan motor wet? foreign material getting pulled into fan or fan motor? off/on switch work ok. batterys good, battery contacts ok? fan transformer 110 vac to 12 vdc good? fan bearings oiled?
need more info to diagnose properly.
all of the above needs to be checked out to tell whats happened.
fan & fan motor needs to be inspected.

No propane comes thourgh pilot on mr buddy heater

If the pilot will not light get a q-tip and alcohol and remove the wire grill and be sure the cotton doesn't come off the end of the stick wet the cotton with the alcohol and twist it and push it down into the pilot tube 2 full inches. Let the alcohol soak for 30 seconds and while twisting pull the q-tip out. Try this until the pilot lights.
