Game states "input number of players" then promptly says "incorrect: Input number of players" then goes dead. Batteries are new. Game does not respond to any keys being pressed at this point. We turn the game off and back on again and the game does the same thing.
My wife's game had the same problem. Just press the reset button. Once the display goes dark, press and hold the Roll button and keep it down for 20 seconds. This should reset the game for you,

Hi. Don't you have an AV button on you remote ? If your game is connected to an AV input, try to use the channel (-) buttons on your TV. Numbers below 1 mostly give access to AV1, 2 etc.
Make sure the AV input can work, simply by connecting a DVD player to it.
• Check the input selection by pressing the INPUT button. You may be watching the wrong input. • If you cannot hear sound from the TV, you may have accidentally pressed the MUTING button on your remote control; press the MUTING button again or press VOL + to deactivate muting. • If the remote control is not functioning properly, the batteries may be installed incorrectly or may be low or an object or light may be interfering with the remote control. • To reset the TV to factory default settings: 1 Turn on the TV. 2 Press and hold down the V button on the remote, press the POWER button on the TV set. (The TV will turn itself off, then back on again.) 3 Release the V button when the TV is turn on. WARNING: The factory reset will clear all of your customized settings including the Parental Lock setting. When the Password is lost or cannot remember, enter the master password: 4357. This password clears your previous password and allows you to enter a new password.
maybe this will help.....
the following steps must be carried out in the correct order:
Turn on the radio - the word "SAFE" appears in the display.
Press the FM 1 and AM buttons simultaneously and hold them down until "1000" lights up in the display. Release the buttons! Do not, under any circumstances, continue holding them down or press them once again. This would cause the radio to consider the number "1000" to be the input code number.
Use station buttons 1 to 4 to input the code number on your Radio Card. Use button 1 to input the first digit of the code number, button 2 to input the second digit, and so on.
For technical reasons, the first digit can only be a 1 or left blank. The following three digits, however, may be any number from 1 to 9 .
Once the code is shown on the display, press the FM 1 and AM buttons again simultaneously and hold them down until the word "SAFE" appears in the frequency display. Release buttons! Soon afterward, a frequency will be displayed.
Should you inadvertently input the incorrect code number in attempting to release the electronic lock-up, the word "SAFE" will appear in the display - first blinking and then continuous.
You can now repeat the entire canceling procedure once. The number of attempts will be shown in the display.
If you input another incorrect number, your radio will be locked up for approximately one hour . The radio will not play. Leave the radio switched on. After an hour, the display with the number of attempts goes out and you can cancel the electronic lock-up as described above.
This cycle - two attempts, one hour lock-up still applies.
You will need a phillips head screwdriver and 3 AA batteries. Flip the board over and locate the battery panel. Take out the screw and remove the panel. Insert the batteries in the alignment specified. Replace the panel and screw. Test it by pressing the "on" button. It should say "remote terminal activated, input number of players." Put the stickers on. The "player one" sticker goes on the side with the on switch. Remove the plastic pieces from the molds and divide them evenly between players. Each player should have five ships, 100 white pegs, 50 red pegs, 25 blue pegs, one red plane and one blue plane. Place pegs in appropriate compartments. The blue pegs and planes are only used in "advanced missions." Player One turns on the game and selects the game mode and how many players there are.
Just in case you don't have the manual I also included the steps to input the codes. Hope this helps
Follow these steps to program the remote control. NOTE: Even though the FUNCTION buttons are labeled for specific components, they can be programmed to operate any
type of equipment that is compatible with this remote control. For
example, the BD/DVD function can be programmed to operate a VCR, AV receiver, etc.
Turn on the component to be programmed.
On the remote control, press and hold the INPUT button.
While holding INPUT button, press the FUNCTION button for the desired component.
Release both buttons.
NOTE: The FUNCTION button will blink for approximately 30 seconds or until a code is entered.
Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code.
NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, enter one code at a time until you find one that works.
Press the ENT button.
NOTE: The FUNCTION will blink twice if the programming is successful, if not, it will blink five times.
Point the remote control at the component.
Press the component POWER button to verify operation.
NOTES:
If a new code number is entered, the code number previously entered will be erased.
When the batteries are replaced, the programmed codes
may be erased. It may be necessary to reprogram the remote after
replacing the batteries.
Some product functions may not be able to be controlled
by the remote control. Use the remote control provided with the
component.
In some rare cases, you may not be able to operate your
non-Sony equipment with the supplied remote control. This is because
your equipment may use a code that is not provided with this remote
control. In this case, use the remote control that was provided with
the equipment or purchase a universal remote control that has a
learning function.
If programming fails, it may be necessary to reset the
remote control. To reset the remote control, remove the batteries and
press each button on the remote control twice.
Click on tool icon on lower right corner. Touch Map icon. Touch
map Info icon in center of screen. Touch City Navigator North America NT v8 icon so that the box is checked. Then click on back until you reach "Where To?" screen. If "Touch City Nav..." box is not checked, then you cannot input state.
Press the "Select" button on the screen that wants you to input the
password. This should change the text on the screen from "Enter
Password" to "Delete Password." Input the numbers "7444" into the box on the screen. This is the
universal password needed to delete the current password. Once you
input the numbers, you should get a message that says "Deletion
Complete." Press the "Select" button again and you should be prompted
to enter a new password.
