Question about McCulloch chain saw part / 4092566/40925-66

Open Question

Switch/trigger (#40925-66) on McCulloch EM300S 3.0HP replacement?

This chain saw has been solid as a rock for years, but now the trigger/switch housing has disintegrated and needs replacing. The website says the part is discontinued but does anyone know of a "replacement" switch/trigger that will fit?

SOURCE: need to replace chain on 450s mcculloch chain saw

You might want to purchase a combination set with a new bar and chain, if so, Oregon #108764 is the 16" length set.

If you only want either a chain or bar, then the following are the correct ones for your chainsaw:

Chain 16" @ 3/8" pitch = #91VX054G (low profile, semi-chisel)

Bar 16" = Oregon #160SDEA318 (w adjustable chain tensioner)
Bar 16" = Oregon #160SDET318 (no adjustable bar slot for use on chainsaw originally equipped with the Intenz bar only)

Hope you find this very helpful and best regards!

SOURCE: How to replace chain on McCulloch chain saw

The chain brake is engaged. support the cover firmly (as it will require a lot of pressure to pull the handle) and pull back towards the operator. When it is re-set, it will then fit properly to be assembled to the saw.

Testimonial: "Fantastic! I was pulling the handle to try to get it unengaged, but wasnt applying enough pressure. I had to apply quite a lot of force to do it. Thnx"

Your friendly neighborhood chainsaw shop can fabricate one in about 5 minutes. Take your existing chain for use as pattern.

Oregon pn 91VG060G.
This can be easily crossed to other manufacturers chain. You might consider a more aggressive chain (dependent on your level of expertise). HTH

On McCulloch em300s where does the oil hose go from the oil pump to the chain bar

you'll need to remove the bar/chain to see this port , as its in saw body , its just behind the bar holddown bolt , it looks like a slight depression in the housing , and yes they do fill up with fine sawdust , also make sure the same port in bar is open as well , I use compressed air (can) to make sure its open

I have a 14" Mcculloch

All modern chainsaws have electronic ignition, you should first try diss connecting the wire to the ignition switch, to rule out a fault with the switch, if still no spark check the gap between the the unit and the flywheel, this shouls be 0.3mm, if still no spark it will be a replacment ignition unit.

My chainsaw wont start. electric souce is good, but nothing happens when you press the trigger.

Check the chainbrake is fully pulled back to the top handle, many electric saws have a micro switch to prevent the saw from running with the brake on.

What kind of oil do i use for the McCulloch EM300s

An electric saw only needs to lubricate the bar and chain. Most home centers and hardwares sell "Bar and Chain" oil. Most are 30 weight non-detergent with some additives to help it adhere. Use whatever is the least expensive.

McCulloch electric pole chain saw manual model 1510

McCulloch Manuals
Illustrated Parts Lists: (IPLs) are fairly simple, on the underside of McCulloch saws is a black and yellow tag; the upper number (“Power Mac 320” 600021H) is the model, below it a serial number (11-18555). These 2 numbers are combined to create an IPL number (“Power Mac 320” IPL number = 11-600021H). The IPL number can be used to find the correct IPL for every McCulloch parts supplier I have found. If the parts supplier only list part numbers the proper IPL is the source for the part number.

Mcculloch em300s electric chain saw stopped oiling the chain. I noticed the oil had all flowed out in storage shed and when I refilled it and used it I noticed the chain and bar were dry.

This is a little complicated so I’m going in small steps.
http://www.m-and-d.com/parts.html
Click “Illustrated Parts Diagrams ON LINE”
Click “Click Here for Parts Lookup”
Changes to “Select OEM” Window reads “Briggs & Stratton ▼” Click the arrow and select “McCulloch Power”
Click “Electric Chain Saws” The model number of your saw is probably on a tag affixed to the bottom. The tag also displays the serial number.
If it is a 300S the hyphen is the bar length.
I looked at the 300S-16 (same oiler parts as -14)
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw’s oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Item 15 has a filter on the bottom check it first, insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). If good I’d look closely at item 17. I can’t get enough detail from the IPL but that is the logical culprit.
Oil systems on all Mac Electrics appear pretty basic. Good Luck
