SOURCE: water filter does not eject when button is depressed.

I just had the same ting happen to me. You need to leave the cover to the water filter (it is the black plastic cover that is part of the grill) is still connected to the filter. After depressing the eject button, this cap helps to pull out the filter. DON'T throw away this very important part, other wise it is impossible to get the filter out. Once you eject the filter, some water will leak from the filter. Just put it in the sink to drain for a while.

SOURCE: replacement water filter won't stay in place.

I had a similar problem. In fact, the new filter couldn't be made to stay flush with the fridge housing. This filter, as it turns out, has been redesigned by the mfg. The unit is now opaque as opposed to the original design, which is covered in white plastic. The reason that the filter will not lock in place is that there is a bar between the two connectors which is longer than that in the original. I was told that there are certain Frigidaires which will not accommodate ths new design. This leaves me with o alternative than to find a source for the original filter design - the one in which the activated carbon is visible through the clear plastic. I'e ordered one from eBay and am hopng for the best.

SOURCE: replacement water filter won't stay in place.

I too had this problem...the metal tabs in the filter housing need to be bent in toward the center to hold the new filter tighter...I also filed the tabs that rest on the spings down a bit to lessen the tension. So far so good!

Water filter pops out when dispenser pad is pushed

I assume you mean the water dispenser here. Most likely, the filter is not seated properly, and the change in line pressure when you push the dispenser pad is popping the filter out of place. You didn't specify the refrigerator, so there are a couple of generic things to try:
  1. There are a couple of water filter types - the push-in-and-click kind, and the push-in-and-turn kind. If it's the push-and-click kind, then there's probably a button next to it. Turn off the water to the line (probably under your sink), push the button to eject the filter, make sure that the o-rings are in place on the end that's inserted. If the filter has been in there for years, probably best to replace it, it's probably clogged but good. Anyhow, insert and eject the filter 4 or 5 times, make sure it feels like it's seating properly.
The push-and-turn ones often have some cap that blends in with the molding of the fridge. Make sure the cap in attached to the top of the filter , insert, and make sure you do the full quarter turn to lock it in place. You should not be able to pull it backwards at this point. Turn it back and forth a couple of times. it should be stiff, but not feel mechanically impeded or jammed. There could be dust bunnies or other floor debris that got pushed in at a previous filter swap jamming things up in there. A crevice tool on the vacuum might help clear debris if it's there (don't do this if water is actually flowing out of the filter spigot )

Try it now (remember to turn the water back on) , that should hopefully fix the issue.

If not, the next generic things to try are:
  1. Replace the filter.
  2. See if the dispenser works without the filter in place. Many fridges have a bypass so that a filter in mid-replacement won't flood the kitchen. If things run ok, try running a couple of gallons of water through. A lot of fridges give you cold water by having a big coil of tubing in the fridge compartment, probably under/behind the vegetable bins. There's the content of a couple of glasses of water in the line, so it's being chilled in the line. If they get clogged, or have some organic gack growing in them, then there'll be more back pressure on the filter when the wall pressure tries to push water through the coil. If things still flow, try running a few gallons of water through the line to see if things will start flowing better. That may clear it up.
If the new filter is still being ejected after running a lot of water through, probably time to get an appliance specialist involved.

Good Luck!

I have a refrigerator of Whirpool type 20RU-Dsybol and the symbol of the antibactreial filter (green) flashing what does this mean

Hi!!
The filter status light will help you know when to change your water filter. The light will flash and change from green to yellow. This tells you that it is almost time to change the filter. It is recommended that you replace the filter when the status light changes to red OR water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases noticeably. After changing the filter, reset the filter status light by pressing the button. The status light will change from red to green when the system is reset.
1. Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille. 2. Pull the filter straight out. 3. Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter. IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter. 4. Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and turn the cap until it snaps into place. NOTE: You can run the dispenser without a filter. Your water will not be filtered. Simply insert the cap all of the way into the base grille and rotate the cap until it is firmly in place. 5. Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed. 6. Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop back out when the filter is fully engaged.
Good Luck!!
A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Please tell me how to replace the water filter and reset the "change filter" light on my Maytag Refrigerator MSD2756GEB. My light stays red after I change the filter. Thanks

Hello,

The filter status display will help you know when to change your
water filter. When the display reads 10%, order a new filter. It is
recommended that you replace the filter when the display reads 10% OR when water flow to your water dispenser or ice maker decreases.

The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months depending on your water quality and usage.

Step 2
Press the eject button to release the filter from the base grille.

Step 3
Pull the filter straight out.

Step 4

Turn the cap counterclockwise to remove it from the filter. IMPORTANT: Do not discard the cap. It is part of your refrigerator. Keep the cap to use with the replacement filter.

Step 5
Align the ridge on the cap with the arrow on the new filter and
turn the cap until it snaps into place.

Step 6
Remove the protective covers from the O-rings. Be sure the O-rings are still in place after the covers are removed.

Step 7
Push the filter into the base grille. The eject button will pop back out when the filter is fully engaged.

Step 8
Flush the water system. Use a sturdy cup or glass. Depress and hold the
water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat this process until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue depressing and releasing the dispenser lever. Hold down for 5 seconds and then release for 5 seconds. Do this on/off process for about 2 minutes. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system.

Take care......
