1.8L. Why is it misfiring?

There are lots of reason to misfire. The most common one is the spark plugs. Then it could be also the wiring harness, and last but not least, the piston. Troubleshoot the spark plug and the wires by removing them with the engine on, or remove the one that you think is misfiring and then turning the engine on, check the spark plug. Change the spark plug wire to TS the wire. If they looks fine, then it could be the piston.

My 2010 gmc has a misfire code and pinging sound what could it be

A misfire code is either plugs or injectors but if you are getting detonation (pinging sound ) then it may be faulty injectors letting in fuel ( incorrect amount of fuel) and at the wrong time . Detonation occurs from incorrect air/ fuel ratio and ignition timing and is spontaneous unplanned combustion . It occurs as the piston starts to compress the mixture and the fire occurs before the piston is near the top of the strake and so the piston is slapped hard against the cylinder wall. If left unattended it has the capability of melting holes in the top of the pistons

Misfire on cylinder 1 ford taurus 2000

You will have to change the cylinder piston; the ring around the piston is what causing this to misfire. As you can see, every time you remove that one spark plug, to look as liquid is been spill on it. The ring around the piston is damage and the cylinder is not burning the oil and gas as the spark plug send fire into the cylinder. contact your local mechanic for hands on help.

I have a 2003 dodge durango 4.7 and it is overheating which i already r&r the thermostat. fixed the problem a lil but not 100%. also check engine light turned on for second time both same code P0308...

yes... overheating can cause issues in your piston/cylinder head. if your cylinder head is made from aluminum and not metal, overheating can cause cracks and bends in your cylinder head. if this cracks occur inside the combustion chamber, then proper compression cannot be attained. you need to rebore then resleeve your combustion chamber and change the pistons to fix this issue. this will also require resurfacing of cylinder head to ensure that it does not create leaks against crankcase.

Number 5 piston misfiring

It could be caused by a lot of different things, including a fuel injector, spark plug, spark plug wire, low compression, but in most cases it doesnt get to deep. I would start with checking the spark plug wire to cylinder number 5, then the spark plug. Moisture can cause a misfire so make sure the metal contact points are dry.

Es, and we changed the timeing chain and belts ect. Now only piston 4 misfires at an idle, and we tested the coilover on piston four and its good. so the only thing i havent replaced is my upstream o2...

have you checked the injector a misfire can also be caused by a faulty injector try switching the number 4 coil with one of the others( if possible )if that cause the cyl that you switch with misfire youve found the problem if in do the same with the injecter but before all that check the compression it should be at least at 150 good luck.
