Zoo tycoon 2 Windows 7 won't finish installing

Hi, The first two disks install fine, the 3rd disc freezes on C:/Program Files [x86]\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2\zt2intro.bik the completion bar seems to reach 99% and then just freezes on this. Any ideas?

SOURCE: why cant i play zoo tycoon 2?

Method 1.
Let us first download and install the patch for this game and then try playing and check if it works.
Here is the link to download the patch.

Method 2.
If you are unable to play the game or install the patch perform the below steps.

a. Click start and type msconfig in search bar and press enter.
b. Select boot.
c. Go to Advanced options.
d. Place a checkmark on Check maximum memory and increase it to the maximum.
e. click ok and the apply and ok again.

Method 3.
Try playing the game in clean boot state and check if it works.
Refer to the article below for steps about how to start your computer in clean boot state.

Zoo tycoon can't load/save games
Unfortunately running an older game like this, you will have issues. Make sure you have the latest updates installed. If that doesn't resolve the issue you may not be able to save under windows 7. I would try compatibility for windows 98 before I give up all hope though.

Error zoo tycon complete collection marine mania global05.ztd file is missing
you could try to create an iso image of the second disk and install from the iso image... this basicaly copies the disk on to your computer incase there are any bad spots on it copy can sometimes read through them

Zoo Tycoon 2 on my Toshiba Laptop
I'm having this same problem- but mine started doing this AFTER I played it for 4 years!! I closed my laptop lid for a week, and I "Continued With System Resume" and now it wont work! I've tried all the **** people have told me to do- so I just deleted a;ll my mods that I put into the game...and now I'm re-install the game..again.


If that gives you any ideas- I hope it helps... sorry.

Missing mss32.dll, im using windows 7 ultimate
MSS32.dll is used quote commonly in various games. A fair number of games rely on Windows having this dll file already installed to an indexed folder such as c:\windows or c:\windows\system32. If you are missing this file you should try reinstalling the game first as there are multiple versions of it - my online research shows 3 distinct versions for games like GTA3/4, Zoo Tycoon, and Counter Strike. It also appears it might be used for some graphics programs.
If reinstalling the program that is giving you this error you might try downloading a common version of the DLL file from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?mss32. You should first try putting the file in the 2 folders mentioned above, then start putting it in the folder with the program that is claiming the file is missing (for instance: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<account name>\counter-strike source\bin).

I'm running 64 bit vista and I purchased zoo Tycoon 2 because sites side it was compatable with windows 64 bit. When it insert the disc and try auto run it comes up with application has faild to start...
try the steps below:
  • Click the start button
  • Click Control Panel
  • Click the icon for Programs and Features
  • Look for the link on the left side of the page with the colored shield that says “Turn Windows Features On or Off” and click it
  • Click continue when prompted for permission
  • Check the box beside the folder labeled Games
  • Click OK and the installation of the games folder will be started.

Game will not open up
Zoo Tycoon has several problems with windows XP after SP2

Uninstall completely...

Reinstall... RESTART AFTER INSTALLING

If your DISC does not have a UBISOFT logo on it, download and install the patch from 

http://zootycoon.com/Downloads/patches.htm

If it DOES you do not need to download it as you already have it and installed it when you installed the game.

If the game does not run try rightclick>properties. Compatability tab, set compatability mode for: Windows 98.

My own copy of zoo tycoon had a weird glitch where you could only run it after you restarted the computer... and if you closed it when you were done playing you would have to restart it (the computer) to play again.

Program has stopped working
Right click on the game icon, select properties and select the compatibility tab. From there check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2). It might be good to also check "Disable visual themes" and "Disable desktop composition" Hope it helps.

I am installing Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection, CD 1 but I keep getting an error that says it does not recognize the file "D:/Files/x300_000.z2F." I've installed numerous programs to try to fix Like I said in the question, I&#39;ve tried plenty of programs to help the issue. In more depth, the download gets to about the end, then stops and tells me that it does not recognize the file. I&#39;ve gone to the file, clicked it and it tells me to search for programs to fix it.
