E5 colour cartridge not recognized

Need help can not print or scan

    Can't add anything practical, the problem is common with many printers. It is a rip off but unless something changes what can be done short of rechipping cartridges yourself. For the most of us the cost is prohibitive.

    Could not the refilling companies take this on 'wipe and reprogram'. I was told by Cartridge world that the ink is regarded as liquid gold and if it were know it probably is worth more.

I too have dealt with this issue of the "count chips" being used specifically by both CANON & LEXMARK.

You get "maybe" between 2-5 refills and then even though the printhead is fine the cartridge will no longer work because the chips sense how many times the cartridge has been installed/removed and then burns itself up so it cannot be used again.

I've even had it happen with brand new cartridges from both manufacturers and they absolutely refuse to acknowledge this issue.

All printer manufacturers try to get you to buy their expensive ink by fitting 'chips' to the 'genuine' ink tanks ..the 'problem' with the Canon's are that these chips are very easy to remove and fit to 'compatible' cartridges BUT they are VERY sensitive to static / damage and it's almost guaranteed that you will blow at least one during a swap-over.

In fact, many people report blown chips on brand new Canon cartridges even when fitting then for the first time to a brand new 'out of the box' printer - which suggests that Canon may have a mfg. problem .. ESPECIALLY with the Yellow cartridge chip ..

About the only advise I can give is NEVER touch the chip contacts, handle a new cartridge with extream care and if you buy a new Canon printer, get the assistant in the shop to fit the Cartridges and demonstrate that the unit is working before leaving the shop ...

Colored refill ink cannot be recognized

It is called e5 error.
For Canon cartridges, after 4~5 refills, the color cartridge cannot be recognized by printer.

In this case...there is no solution so far...just replace with new cartridge.. that's it.
(To avoid e5 error, you need to make sure "plug out" the power, before take out your cartridge for refill. Yes... "plug out" the power cords!!!!

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".

Colour ink cartridge not recognized

You can bypass sometimes when the cartridge is just empty, but there's no bypass if not recognized. You can try using an eraser to wipe the contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge holder, but if that doesn't work you will need the new cartridge.

Countinuosly i am getting E5 error on my canon printer while scanning the document

E5 is the ink cartridges are not installed or non supported ink.This mean if you have both cartridges in printer one or both are failed.You can't scan, because scanner and printer are connected together and you can use the scanner only if printer is initialized.In your case this is not so.Check print cartridges and replace first color, if not help replace and black.

Hi, I need your help with this problem: the Canon MP210 ran out of color ink. I have removed both the cartridge. Anyway, the problem is not in the E5 error. The problem is, that the scanner does not work,...

The scanner and the printer are connected together.Both need initialized for printing or scanning.You can't scan if you haven't cartridges in printer and you can't print if the scanner not initialized.Put cartridges back and press and hold the resume button for 5 seconds.If you still have E5 error that mean you have a defective cartridge and you need to replaced.

MP210: Can I use the scanner without the printer?

yeah same problem here wit a mp160.. will try it with new cartridges, if that fails, i'll never buy canon again
