Question about Bosch HMV5051U - 500 Series Over The Range Microwave - Stainless Steel

Open Question

Bosch Microwave Model HMV 5051 U has clanking sound when it's in the cooking mode. It sounds like it's coming from the top - near the vent/fan. It doesn't occur when the fan only is on... it's when

The sound still occurs when removing the rotating turntable. I welcome any suggestions.

SOURCE: Bosch microwave & exhaust fan trip fuse when on at the same time as the gas stove.

see the next steps: use the common sense and VOM
1. No power to outlet (overload or fault in microwave or other appliance).
2. Blown main fuse - likely due to other problems.
3. Open thermal protector or thermal fuse.microfuse.jpg
4. Defective controller or its power supply.
5. Clock needs to be set before other functions will operate (some models).

My Bosch Microwave oven (build in ) model#HMB8050 Is shutting off after 7 mins. What could be the problem? I have no access to unplugged it:(

That's probably your magnetron overheating due to either a defect or due to a lack of cooling air flow.

Consult your onwer's manual and check your filters, vents, and air ducts for blockages.

Also, your hood vent exhaust fan and / or internal cooling fan should come on whenever you cook.

LG microwave intermittently runs

I would try troubleshooting the "defrost circuit". The behavior sounds like the microwave is cooking in the defrost mode, where it actively cooks then stops allowing the food to rotate and the heat to spread then actively cooking again.

Our range venting microwave doesn't seem to **** up the steam from the range top. A lot of air comes out the top,but the steam seems to be going in.

We have the same problem with our lmvh1750st lg brand, there is 5 settings and alot of noise and airflow out the top. Very little from the bottom actually seems to go into the vent. We are very disatisfied with this and find during normal cooking we have very little help from the vent hood.

My ge microwave quit working while i was cooking in it. it is if a breaker blew but none did. i plugged it into another outlet and still no power. does this microwave have a fuse or reset button? it is...

The parts I would suspect are (in order) the TCO (aka thermal cutout / thermostat) located on the magnetron, the TCO on the top of the oven cavity, the bottom TCO (not to be confused with the hood TCO, which should read open), or the 20A ceramic line fuse, which is likely to be located on a filter board near where the cord comes into the unit.

Accessing some components (especially the oven cavity thermostat) for testing and possible replacement will require you to remove the oven from the wall and take off the outer cover.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

It is vital that the internal cooling fan runs whenever the oven is cooking, or the magnetron will be destroyed.

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

It sounds like two separate problems.

1. It sounds like your magnetron is overheating and then the thermostat trips, cutting the power until it turns off, then it closes to power it back up.

It's essential that the internal cooling fan (I don't mean the hood / vent / exhaust fan) is running to be sure the magnetron stays cool.

2. It also sounds like your vent / hood / exhaust thermostat is sticking or the triac on the circuit board is leaky, causing the vent fan to stay on.

But you may want to check the owner's manual. It is designed to stay on if the temperature of the stove top is above a certain level.

Microwave problem

Is this a new or used unit, and is the humming sound new? Can you watch the fan blade go around or is it going too fast to watch a blade?

New microwave; loud fan when heating items

Since you say it's new, it should be under warranty. I would call GE (see your owner's manual) to get a local authorized service center. Then while you're on the phone with the service center, you can start it up and hold the phone close to it to demonstrate to the technician how loud it is. They should be able to tell you if it will be covered under warranty so you get it fixed free.
