SOURCE: Receiver keeps flashing "PROTECT"

The protect message indicates that a problem was detected in the last stage of the amplifier and that it has shutdown to prevent further damage. Usually this indicates that the output transistors have failed. Any shop that works on audio should be able to repair this. Expect a part cost in the $20-$40 range. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Same problem here. My first receiver was doing this, sent it back, and the second did it again. So I remembered an article regarding remotes and florecent lights. I covered up the remote sensor on the face of the receiver and so far no problem. A piece of tape about 1" square was used and so far no problems. jeffspeakers@aol.com

We dont have the manual for our TEAK AGV 1200 RECEIVER AND I NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY WATTS IT HAS? Any way I can find out with the manual?

You have to type alpha-numeric gibberish verbatim or there will be no good information coming back.

If you mean TEAC AG-V1200 then just google it.

Here's a manual for $10 http://www.teac.owner-manuals.com/AGV1200-owners-manual-TEAC.html

It probably has the specs.

This seller claims 110 watts per channel all around, which sounds supsiciously generous. Rear channels don't need that kind of horsepower.

I would like to run my TV sound out of my TEAC AG-D9100. Can I connect my TV sound output to the VCR/VIDEO4 input without a video input and then switch to VCR VIDEO4 to get the output sound? I have the...

Yes, and if you have a cable/sat/dvr box why don't you just run ITs best TV-related audio into the receiver without watering it down through your TV?

I'm not so sure that running the TV video through anything else serves any purpose. Once TV has it where else do you need it?

I have a teac receiver AG-790 and would like to hook an equalizer to it. How do i go about it?

Find the manual at:
http://www.teac.com/consumer_electronics/receivers_&_tuners/ag-790a/

and on page 6 they show how a Tape Deck is attached. Attach the EQ exactly like that and if you have a Tape Deck or two attach IT(them) to the EQ as if IT was the receiver.

To engage the EQ at the receiver choose Tape and everything passing through the receiver wil lbe routed OUT to the EQ and back IN via the PLAY connections.

Surround Sound won't go on. Connected and setup all speakers. Did the speakers test. And playing a DVD surround sound won't go on.

You don't say what the DVD model is and how it's connected. What DOES work? Is surround not working for other sources, too? Have you connected the DVD player to other inputs to see if the problem is in it or the receiver? Is the digital input on the receiver assigned to the DVD player? You have some homework to do.

Help with AG-D9320

These recievers are prime for running surround sound through you TV. It all depends on your TV service, Now if you have a cable box from Dish network, this is the easiest in the world, all you need to look for is an output labeled "OPTICAL OUT". It's a small port with probably a small glowing red light coming out of it. You'll need to buy and optical cable and plug it in there, and then run the other end to the optical input of your surround sound reciever, and then assign a video input to that digital audio signal. It's the best audio you can get by far.

Now if you down't have that, it is still very easy. Find you reciever look for a video input and plug an audio cable in(Red and White cable). Plug the other end into your TV's audio output, a red and white output that is probably labeled audio out, plug that in, switch TV to whatever you are viewing, turn on the reciever to whichever input you assigned and there you go.

If your TV doesn't have an audio output, then you need to go to your cable or sattleite box, and find the audio output, the R/W(Red & white), and run that out to your reciever, the sound won't come through the tv unless you run a second audio out from the reciever into you tv's audio input on the same signal your picture is coming from.

I hope that helps.
