Charging indicater light is on but will not power up.

Dell latitude d400. The note book shows power indicater light is on when the power adapter is inserted. Still does not power up. Is there a thermal or replacable internal fuse that I can reset or replace. If so, where is it located? The power adapter is good as it charges and works with another laptop!

Thank you!!

Take out the battery from the laptop and only hook up the ac adaptor and if you get no power to it and still can't turn it on an knowing that your ac adaptor is good, then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

My battery is charged have a brand new ac adapter/charger but it still wont turn on nothing no charging signal nothing at all what might be the problem?

If you have a new power adapter (and it is putting out the correct voltage) and you try to turn on the computer and nothing happens, I would suspect that your motherboard has gone bad.
The good news is that you can probably find a used one on e-Bay.

These is no internal fuse in the charger. It is all solid state electronics. If the battery is bad and shorted out inside the charger won't turn on.

DELL Latitude D400 - what are the series of (blinking) icons?

sometimes this indicate a fault with memory or the system itsef. Before you begin you will have to remove the battery and the ac adapter.Remove the memory modules .Replace the battery and the ac adapter without the memory.Power it on if it comes on and beep several times then the memory is bad.If not remove the battery and the ac once again.Press and hold the power button for twenty seconds to clear the nonvol memory.Replace the memory the battery and the ac adapter. If still no go remove all the same items along with the hard drive and cd rom,Insert the battery and the ac adapter try again. If you hear a beep this time replace the battery(remember whenever you install to remove power). If nothing works and you none of the desired results you will have to replace the motherboard.
Good luck

C 400 Latitude display problem

That LOCK A sysmbol is the caps lock.

Most likely its due to hardware failure. Be sure the battery is holding a charge and the power adapter is working.

It could be bad Ram. Usually when there is nothing at all but a quick light on and off and nothing, its due to motherboard issues or hardware plugged into it. Try removing any CD drives or add in devices.

Good luck

Non powering

hi! the motherboard is dead. if the ac adapter light turns off when plugged in and if you unplug it, it will turn on, then the problem is with the motherboard. It needs to be replaced. Call Dell Tech support if you still have warranty to have the motherboard replaced or else, you have to pay for the repair.

Hope this helps!
