Need to change a broken blower motor in RUUD central air unit. Old central air blower motor (GE electric) was connected with brown and orange wire to 15 MHD capacitor. Another orange wire from central air...

on the motor should be a diagram detailing the wires. brown white goes to either side of the capacitor and brown wire to other side of capacitor. hi speed goes to normally open contact on the indoor fan relay and the wire designated common on the motor goes to the other side of power from the relay contacts.

I have a Rudd 240V air cond and changed out the condensor fan motor that had 3 wires brn, blk and org. the new one has 5 wires, brn, blk, org, blu, yel. which wires do I connect to relay and single capacitor.

If you will look on the side of the new motor is should show you. But the black and brown will go in the same place as your old one. Generally, the yellow will replace the orange.
Black is hi speed and will be connected to one side of the "relay"
Brown is capacitor by itself
Yellow is common on the other side of the capacitor and will link back to the "relay"

Again, be sure to check on the side of the motor. Yellow should be noted as "common"
Be sure to tape the ends of the wires not being used before you power it up.

Are you looking for a capacitor.
corp or a Supco
corp You can find either one at Johnstone Supply on the web. There is also a starter that some use like Carrier and on some Ruud but I can't find a pic of it. It has three wires connections. One out of each end and one from the middle. They are also sold at Johnstone. Good luck

Trying to figure where all the wires connect on a/c contacter?

The two wires coming from your inside unit. They are the low voltage wires go on either side of the contactor coil. You should not have two blues on one side. see if the black wire comes from inside unit. Rus

Wiring a retrofit soft start blower into a Ruud 5T/100k gas pack

Chances are, you've smoked the motor. You basically put 120 volts across the speed windings of the motor when you did this.

What you need to do is, with the new motor, you will have neutral, and speed 1, speed 2, speed 3, etc. Hook one of the original black wires to neutral (it would be best to trace which of the two black wires is connected to neutral, and connect this one.).

Black on the new motor is probably High speed, red is probably low, orange is medium speed. Hook the remaining black wire to one of these, and no more than one of these, or you will smoke the motor again.

Attach a wire cap and/or electrical tape to the remaining wires to insulate them from contacting anything else.

Ruud achiever compressor not running

Relay could be problem. See if thermostat makes relay click. If it does and you hear compressor try to run when it closes, everything is good in control circiut. Then check Start and Run capacitors. May be just one capacitor with 3 terminals on it. If there is any oil leaking out of it or if its swelled, Thats the problem, Replace it with same size capacitor. Mark wires before you remove them. If you hear relay try to close but no sound from the compressor, Check the High Pressure switch. They usually have a red reset button. If its tripped, Could be the condensor fan motor or grass and **** blocking air flow on condensor coil. If you hear no compressor noise and high pressure switch is not tripped but relay acts like its working, Replace relay. DANGER!!! High Voltage!!! Make sure that all power is off of both units before touching wires. Hope this helps. Let me know. Am on yahoo IM as kstfas if you yahoo.
