Re: Problems with internet when using ps3 and laptop
Are you using any kind of "peer to peer" file sharing program, like gnutella, frostwire or limewire? The reason I ask is a friend of mine who works at Comcast Cable in Denver, CO, said that once broadband admin finds someone hoging bandwidth in a given area, they'll limit your "mbps" to discourage you from using peer to peer file sharing.
This may or may not be the case in your situation.
On my set up. I'm running a wired Cisco router with both a PC & PS3 on it. The PC will expierence an occasional slowdown, but not enough to re-configure my set up. I hope this was of SOME help. If I can be of any other help, please message me here. Good Luck, bro.

You'll have to use the PS3's built-in wireless card to connect to your wireless broadband connection, and then set up a Playstation Network account. This should be automatically configured by the PS3, unless your service provider has a set of specific settings that you have to provide the PS3.
do you run it wirelessly or with an ethnet cable? also have you tried enetering the settings manually from the wireless setup menu? entering the network key in capital letters etc? sky broadband seems to be very fickle. as i have no end of problems with it disconnecting and running very slowly.
Are you connecting wirelessly or with a cord? if wireless, you need to make sure that you are selecting the same security setting as the connection that you pick in 'network settings'. If the option is 'none', then you need not worry about a password. however if it has a password, then you need to make sure that you type that password in (case sensitive). I had the same problem and this worked for me. hope this helps...please rate if it does....thanks. also, you shouldn't have to do anything with your laptop at all. try to use a direct line from your modem if you are using an ethernet cord.
Can you provide more information? The Verizon Wireless broadband access is for your laptop only. In order for the PS3 to take advantage of it, you'll have to setup Internet Connection Sharing on your laptop. That way your PS3 can connect to your laptop via your laptop's wireless connection (in Ad Hoc mode since you don't have a wifi network) and access the internet via the VzW Broadband Access.
i need help registering for a ps3 online account. i have tired repeatedly with different email accts and passwords and everytime it gives me the same message "sign in id and password is not correct" customer support is b/s! they tell me it will work eventually. anyone have any other solutions?
From the sounds of it your using a wireless connection? when you use the auto connect and it fails what does it say in the connection status in internet options? what is your signal strength? mine wouldnt work if it was less than 90%. i sorted this by moving my wireless box to the top hall so connection is 100% and i have no problems. please feel free to ask any questions.
