Light bulb above stove under microwave hood

According to the GE manual it is a 120 v 20 watt halogen bulb, the GE product number is WB36X10213. That is the cooktop light/nightlight that would be on the stove hood. HTH!

GE microwave JES 2251 SJ02 Light bulb that illuminates oven interior burnt out. Have correct replacement bulb (I think!). Can I remove oven cover and replace light bulb while keeping a good distance away...

sTEVE, THE CAPACITORS HOLD A CHARGE EVEN AFTER THE SYSTEM IS UNPLUGGED. A good rule of thumb would be to allow at least 48 hours for the capacitors to discharge before even getting nea them. Then, yes, you can replace the bulb. Thanks

While changing nightlight bulb, it twisted off and short circuite

Hi,
In all probability, the short took out the relay on the control board and the control board will need to be replaced.

I hope that helps.

Night lights do not work

We see this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

On these models, the oven must be pulled from the wall mount, then the outer cover must be removed. This is apparently to limit the manufacturer's liability. Removing the microwave from the wall is really a two-person job, since it is heavy and awkward. You don't want it to fall or slip, and the edges can be sharp. It helps a lot if you saved the original installation instructions. Once the oven is out of the wall, you can then access the lamp socket. These bulbs are special halogen types that must not be touched by bare hands, since skin oils will shorten their life. NIGHTLIGHT WON'T WORK BUT SURFACE LIGHT WILL

This is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95. This is most often caused by the filaments shorting when the bulb blows, or by not disconnecting the microwave from the power line when removing or installing a bulb.
