Mine was due to an incorrect gas manifold pressure setting. Call Nortitz technical support and they will walk you through setting it correctly. You will need a manometer but a cheap one will cost less than $100 and is cheaper than a service call.

Never trust anything that comes to you new because usually they are made in china and are not consistent, but next time make sure clean air is being supplied if impeller gets dirt build it becomes imbalanced and will draw high amps and create that vibration noise. Also vibration noise can be caused by improper combustion set up.

I am occassionally getting a moaning vibration, seems to be in the gas line. 1" supply to the house 3/4" branch for the waterheater which is the first appliance. hard piped all the way, is it possible...

Maybe, but if it works OK and you only need to eliminate the vibration then it's going to be one of two things. The pipes themselves might be vibrating, or you may be getting a regulator and gas vibration (like a flute or a horn). As a simple test, try putting a locking pliers or a heavy c-clamp on the pipe, maybe in a couple of places. If this eliminates the problem, then it's the pipe vibrating and you only need to clamp some weight in place as a permanent solution, but don't make a direct metal connection unless you're certain the metals are the same. If that doesn't eliminate the problem then its the horn problem and you could make a geometry change (changing the length of the pipe - adding a couple of bends with additional fittings) good luck

Takagi TK-JR vibrating noise

Remove your hydronic pump and replace the flexible impeller coupling that couples the impeller blades to the pump motor. make sure you don't do this on a sat or, sunday (i hate house calls then) and, be sure you have a new pump housing gasket before you start the job. Also check the unit for loose pipe brackets

When hot water is turned on the pipes make this vibrating sound.

A rumbling more than a vibration? If one in the same, the heating elements may have calcium build up which causes perculation like the perculator coffee pot which causes the heater to vibrate or rumble. If the elements can be removed they can be cleaned by soaking in lime away or a descaling solution. All said and done it will work like new.

Takagi TK-JR vibrating noise

I have the same problem with a T-K3. The Takagi support site recommended cleaning the burner. When the plummer arrived to attempt the cleaning, he was not convinced that it would help. He called the Takagi 800 number and let them hear the problem over the phone. They had him set the fan speed dip switch (#4 on the upper left bank of switches) to the up ("on") position and reset the system. Problem resolved! Why they didn't recommend this when I contacted them, I haven't got a clue. Anyway, the system hasn't vibrated in several days of use.
