Everyone will tell you that it's the Imaging Unit - happy to say that's not true. If it was the imaging unit the colors would not come out right either. I bet if you print a test page that all the colors come out fine across the page. It's only the black.

Also - if you replace the black toner cartridge, or reinstall your printer and drivers like some people will tell you - still no results.

The problem is in the black toner cartridge PATH inside the printer. Something has jammed it up a bit. Try taking out the black cartridge and blowing firmly into the small hole at the bottom of the spout that looks to have a sponge inside. Use a straw and make sure your air blown is dry. Then lightly tap the cartridge a few times. Then use the straw and once again blow very firmly inside the receiving path (inside the printer) for the spout on the cartridge. Make sure you are blowing into the spout path at the bottom - not the gear drive path in the middle - as that will not do any good.

Replace the cartridge, warm up and print another black and white page. You should see that the faded out section is gone or diminished in size. If it is not gone, simply repeat the above steps until it is gone. You will see that the faded out strip gets smaller and smaller each time until it's gone. I had to repeat five times, but eventually got it corrected. Now prints like brand new so don't get discouraged.

Sounds like a faulty Image Unit.(this is the large unit that the toners plug into.) It may be caused initially by a faulty toner cartridge, but if the issue persists after a new toner has been tried the only cause can be the Image Unit.

I'm making an assumption that all the other colour prints fine and this just relates to black?

Hi, I have had my CLX-2160 printer for 3 years now and its started to print with a fade on the left side only and have just under half black ink left. Is it worth changing the black toner cartridge or does...

Hello.
There are two reasons the fade happens. Running out of toner and the drum not responding correctly. The Drum is the unit that transfers the toner to the paper. if it gets damaged or dirty inconsistent print is usually the result. Try taking the toner out, shaking it and replacing it to see if it affects the print quality. if it does not price a replacement drum and toner, compare it to the price of a new printer and this will answer the second part of your question!!!
I hope this helps Regards GM

CLX 2160 Message: Deve Home Sensor Error. What can i do to correct it.

There could be two problems

A minor error occurs and the machine is waiting an error to be cleared. Check the display message, and solve the problem referring to Understanding display messages, see page 11.3.The toner cartridge is low. Order a new toner cartridge; see Ordering supplies on page 12.1. You can temporarily improve print quality by redistributing the toner. See page 10.4.

For referring this page numbers, please download the manual from this link.

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200812/20081215154056890/Guide_EN.pdf

The error message, which you have told me, not in the error message list. I think there is an internal failure for the printer. It is always recommend servicing your printer with authorized service centers. If the error message is not in the error list, owner cannot repair but, technician can repair the printer. I hope this information is useful for you. Thank you.

The problem I have with my Samsung CLX-2160 is that it is only the blue which is not printing evenly - it fades out across the page. The others colours + black are all printing fine & evenly. Any...

you'll need to get to the transfer rollers and de-magnetize them. There should be a "Corona wire" that you can slide from one end of the transfer roller all the way to the other. On the other hand, you may be facing a clog in the blue toner channels, so a thorough cleanup of the entire assembly should help. Or, make a full-blue A4/letter sized document and print it out. Maybe the large amount of blue toner can de-clog the channels. Also, keep the old blue toner if it's not empty because this is not a toner issue.

Go to printer properties and check whether you have selected print in grey mode and also check whether you have selected the economic mode. Rectify the same will solve your problem.

Faded stripe down the printed page

I found a solution that worked to eliminate the faded black stripe down the page thanks to a post by slamfix in another forum. The problem is related to ink build up on the blade edge of the black developer assembly in the imaging unit (the imaging unit contains 4 separate developers - yellow, blue, magenta, and black). The solution involves taking out the imaging unit, removing and cleaning the blade edge of the black ink developer until smooth. It took me about 15 minutes to complete and was fairly straightforward.

Samsung CLX-2160, keep getting faded toner stripe down page. changed toner numerousof times

Many people will tell you it is an engineering problem that Samsung won't own up to (it isn't and that's why they won't own up to it). Others will tell you that it's the Imaging Unit - happy to say that's not true. If it was the imaging unit the colors would not come out right either.
