Question about Proscan Used Original PS31122 SIMPLE Remote Control

Proscan PA31122 TV audio amp

I have a fair amount of knowledge on audio circuit design and I am very curious to know about the audio amplifier in my old Proscan TV, chassis # ctc169ej5. I am especially interested in the circuit configuration of the last two stages of the amplifier which feed the external speakers. For example, are each of the stereo output stages of this 5 wpc amplifier single ended source (or emitter) followers, or push-pull MOSFETs, etc? I would love to study the design for myself. If anyone would like to share their copy of the TV's amplifier schematic, please send it to cineennui@gmx.com . Thanks

How do I connect amp to receiver?

Amp?? You want to connect an audio amplifier to another audio amplifier? Well, start by finding your local electronic repair shop's phone number as "speaker level" does not play well with another "speaker level." External devices such as CD, MP3, DVD, etc. output what is called "Line" level which is a fraction of the amount created by speaker level amplifiers. Audio equipment is designed to amplify this line level input to a speaker level that will...well, power speakers. Wikipedia should be able to explain this in more depth.

I have a Kicker KX-200.2 amplifier and need to know what transistors belong in the Q-15 and Q-18 locations on the main circuit board.

I have a 450.2 amp and Q15 has a tip42c transistor, and Q18 is missing from my amp (the reason I have the internals exposed..), but I'm fairly confident that it's a irfz44v mosfet chip. Hope that helps.

It has stopped workin and the red light is flashing. Is this a code and if so how do you read it

The red light is a power protection circuit designed to shut the amplifier down due to an overload or wiring problem. If the amp was playing then shut off, my guess is a problem with the speakers or the speaker wiring. Some amplifiers are only stable to a certain load. For example, most car audio speakers are 4 ohms which is the resistance placed upon your amplifier to produce a certain volume of sound. If you bridge two 4 ohm speakers together in parallel, you cut the resistance in half, thus increasing the amount of power (and volume) to your speakers. This also creates more heat and could, in effect, shut your amplifier down. I would find out how the speakers are wired to determine the resistance of the load your amplifier is pushing. Also check the grounding.

This set only has 5 Watt output, can this be lifted to 10 Watts

The only way you will boost the audio output would be to hook up an external amplifier to audio outputs on the back of the TV. Doing ANY modifications to the audio circuit may leave you with a TV that no longer works since it was designed to work with the amplifier circuit that's already in the TV.

Difference between audio amplifier & OPAMP

An audio amplifier is a general term that applies to any amplifier specifically designed to cover the audio spectrum, and usually referres to power amplifiers (of any power from micro headphone amps (like the headphone audio amplifier circuit in an ipod) . to power amps like the ones used at rock concerts that are several thousand watts).

An OP-AMP is an Operational Amplifier, which refers to a type of amplifier circuit. Op-Amps can amplify audio, but are not restricted to it. They are used in many things from audio circuitry to signal conditioning, and sensing from all kinds of equipment from seismometers, to light sensors, temp sensors, insturmentation amps, lab amps... RF amps etc...

There are many many different types of op-amps that are designed for many different applications. Mostly the parameters are frequency response, gain, and input/output impedance.

Op-amps usually come in an IC package of some sort. The most common are 8 pin DIP package types.

Op-amps do NOT handle power. (although there are some hybrid power op-amps available, they are specialty devices) The term op-amp refers to the ability of the amplifier to be manipulated mathematically by external values. (i.e. resistors set up to add, subtract, or multiply the value of the input signal) Hence the term OPERATIONAL amp, because it is performing mathematical operations on the signal. (They were first used in analog computers, allowing the voltages to be added, subtracted, and such, and displaying the resultt by directly reading the voltage value).

They handle only small signals, and require being followed by a POWER amp to do anything useful, such as drive a spleaker, or a relay, or a transducer.

For your question, most all audio amps consist of stages.

There is an input/pre-amp stage (this is usually where the eqalization, signal processing, and bass/trebel tone controls are implelented) and a power amp (output) stage that takes the signal fromthe pre-amp and raises the voltage and current to a sufficient level to drive speaker.

The input/pre-amp stage is most usually composed of a series of op-amps. Op amps also are responsible for the bass/trebel control, and the EQ.

There will most usually always be several Op-Amps in every Audio Amp.

NO OWNERS MANUAL

Go to there website to download the pdf version of the manual.

If that does not help look on the back and you should see optical out, audio out type connectors.

Most effective way would be to buy a surround sound amp and connect it via an optical out to the surround sound amp and the surround sound amp will have the connectors for the surround sound speakers.

Audio not working on proscan ps61700

I have a GE 46 in TV that had the same occurrence. I believe it is a sign that the amplifier is overheated or stressed. The way I fixed mine was to unplug TV and leave off for a few minutes -then plug in. I discovered this by accident when the power went off one day and the sound returned (had been using my vcr audio output plugged into my stereo for weeks!) This fix will work for weeks-sometimes months-evidently resets the circuits inside the amp somehow. Last time this happened I also removed the back of TV and blew out the dust with compressed air while it was unplugged-still have sound 4 months later without a "reset"-so I'm guessing it did help .

It will work fine. This amp is stable to 1.5 Ohms, but is designed to put out about the same amount of power at 2 or 4 Ohms (unique).
