Hi, now there it could be one of two faults, the brake magnetic core is not releasing the brake , other-words it's dragging or the voltage from the controller is not high enough or not enough current , a controller fault...check the wiring going from the controller to the brake... now a simple test would be to remove the brake but still have it connected via the two wires and tape on to the motor now you must be careful here because the scooter will roll if near a incline etc...so you been warned !!!! ... does the scooter run okay now ?

I do repair brakes..

My car chirps while increasing speed and when I brake my vehicle.

It is possible that the broken tab is your problem because the tabs keep the hardware from moving, especially when you apply the brakes. To determine if this is the case, remove the tire, brake caliper, brake pads, and hardware. Put one of the lug nuts(or two if needed) back on to hold the rotor in place. Spin the rotor by hand and listen for that chirping sound. If you don't hear it, the hardware is the problem. If you can still hear it, check that metal plate that protects the back side of the rotor to make sure its not bent and rubbing against rotor. Also check that nothing is rubbing on the trans-axle(if its front-wheel drive). If all is well in these two places, the only thing left that spins in that area is the wheel bearing. They usually make more of a grinding or roaring sound but sounds can be tricky.. I am a mechanic for a car rental company and often have to diagnose problems by the sound they make. I hope this info is helpful.

I have a Monarch Vogue and Monarch Sprint mobility scooters. After 20 minutes of use the motors on both scooters are getting very hot and then stop.

hi Phillip , sadly that does not sound good,

One common known cause of this fault is the brake starting to release , other-words stressing the motor .. remove the brake however keep it connected and see whether this improves thing however be careful, the scooter will move if on a slope ..

1. are the brushes the right size ? and do the brushes move feely within the motor brush holder ?

2. Is the Armature clean ?, the gaps ...

3. Has the motor been removed and refitted if so has it been coupled to the gearbox correctly ?

4. The windings of the motor can be breaking down however this would not cause the brush area to become hot unless it causing too much current to draw...

When I hit the brakes the motor stumbles

It sounds like it might be a ruptured diaphragm inside the power brake booster assy. It's the large round dome that sits directly back of the brake master cylinder and uses engine vacuum to assist with braking. Try this: with the engine running listen carefully under the dash in the area where the brake pedal in located as you press on the brake. If the diaphragm is ruptured you should detect an increased hissing sound as the engine stumbles. That would be the sound of a vacuum leak. If so you'll have to replace the booster assy. Hope this helps! Dan

WHEN I DRIVE MY KIA SPORTAGE IT MAKES A RUBING SOUND LIKE REAR BRAKE ?

Are you sure it's the brakes? If brakes are rubbing they'll get hot and the wheel lug bolts will too.
Put on old clothes, drive the car down the freeway on a Saturday or Sunday morning, when there's no traffic, being careful to not touch the brake pedal (except as needed). When you've heard the rubbing noise for fifteen minutes or so, pull way over somewhere safe & park. Turn the engine off & apply the parking brake. Go to each wheel and touch the lug nuts and/or the brake drums or discs the wheels are attached to. If a brake's dragging the disc or drum will be scalding hot. If the brakes are not hot, the rubbing sound isn't brakes.

Replacment of wheel lug bolts on rear wheels

The bolts can be replaced 1 of 2 ways w/o pulling axle. Need to take rotor off and either press bolts out with an arbor press or can be tapped out with a copper or brass hammer. Once out, the new ones can be pressed in by putting about 4 or 5 washers on and then tightening the lug nut down until the lug is pulled snug into the roter. Once snug, the roter can then be reinstalled on the wheel and brake assy put back. Caution!! Brake assy needs to be supported up out of the way with wire or coat hanger while removing rotor. Undo force of weight on brake pad assy can damage hose or unit itself.
