Yes you can do this yourself. The part that still holds charge is the transformer and the resistor. Still not a problem you should not even be around those parts to replace it.

Taking the cover off is the longest. I would say max time 15 to 30 minutes. Just make sure the wires you take off you know where they go on the new peice before you do the job

A screw driver ground out to something metal will discharge the system. You will get a 24 volt shock that will just wake you up really fast.

Not a problem good luck, and if you could please vote on how I did please

My oven suddenly stopped working

Most microwave ovens have up to 4 micro switches in the door latch, it's a safety interlock. These can go bad, and cause the oven to not function.
Micro switches are pretty inexpensive, and can be replaced. You need to open the oven, and then identify exactly which micro switches you need. Both my current microwave ovens have done this, and I've replaced the bad switches. They work fine now.

GE JES1344SK01 microwave: turn off reminder beeps

I checked my GE micro information and nothing is said about disabling that annoying beep. Guess GE feels it is for your own good, like a noisome nanny.

Check the door safety interlock switches. Magnatrons are pretty tough but the little switches are not.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

You can find handy exploded views and order parts by model number here.

Every thing works but theh heating. Does not cook or defrost.

probably the magnetron. You'll have to take microwave apart. These can be pretty high dollar parts. But if you want to keep the microwave you have and are pretty handy you can do the job. Price of magnetron run from 50 to 180 dollars

Unit will only work one time /then you have to wait 10-15min

ge over the range microwaves have this problem . for some reason the plastic sort of melts but not realy (please check hinge for wear and adjust if ness ) , it just gets out of shape from the heat and this makes the switches not work properly . most likely the micro is too close to the stovetop . see your manual about that and you can buy the slideing plastic parts where the switches are , its just big $$$$ if the micro is to close it will happen again GOOD LUCK

Micro beeps 3 times with "F3" flashing on LCD screen. Nothing works.

If it's a GE model, F3 will mean a shorted key panel.

(If it's not a GE, please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you).

If you might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here:

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

BUT If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
