Dishwasher it cleans poorly - KitchenAid 24 in. KUDI01FLSS Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

My Kitchen Aid KUD101FL doesn't really clean my dishes. I've cleaned out all of the water-bearing parts, run a vinegar cycle, rinsed my dishes, etc. Nothing seems to work. Worst part: I had my motor replaced 18 months ago.

Fill with salt. Clean out all rotary arms. And put a dishwasher cleaner through. The rotary arms get blocked with lime scale.

I have a Whirlpool GU2600XTPS7 dishwasher - long washing time

You could have a couple things going on here. It could be either related to water temperature, build up in the sensor area or poor washing.

If the dishes are coming clean then you can discount the poor washing.

1st thing to try is clean out the dishwasher, a build up or residue can form on the sensors in the bottom and they can be fooled into thinking the water is cloudier or cooler than normal and it would take longer to heat the water and wash. Here is a link to some instructions I put together on how to clean it out.

Clean Out Procedures

2nd thing to try would be to run the hot water in the kitchen sink until it is hot before you start the dishwasher. By doing this the dishwasher will not have to slow down and pause while it is heating the water enough to clean the dishes

Gritty film left on almost all dishes, rinse aid level seems to always remain at full, but apparently not rinsing well.

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Poor Cleaning and getting worse

A common cause of poor washing is improper loading—dishes block or impede the spray arms or prevent the soap dispenser from opening. On the other hand, if your dishwasher has chronic problems with washing, the problem may not be your dishwasher. Your home's water pressure may be too low, the water may be too hard, you may not be using the right amount of detergent, or the water temperature may not be hot enough

Doesn't clean dishes completely, especially the top rack. also it doesn't completely empty out the detergent dispenser.

To the people here with the poor cleaning problems:
Try these steps:
Buy a small box of Cascade or Electrosol diswashing powder. Use only it for 30 days and report back. Do not use gel, tablets or ultra low end detergent. I have proven that ultra cheap powder WILL cause problems.
Also, fill a bowl or large cup with white vinigar, place it in the bottom shelf of of the empty dishwasher. Do not add any detergant. Run a normal or quick cycle.
If you still have poor cleaning, it is time to call for service or remove the filter beneath the lower rack and search for debris that will need to be removed.
Please report back with your results and the make/model of the dishwasher. Good Luck!

Water won't drain

Hi fixitfran,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have pulled the dishwasher out and checked hose. No kink in line. You have taken cleaned out dishwasher and no clog. You poored water into dishwasher and it drains from the bottom not throught drain hose. You have checked the drain hose on the bottom of the dishwasher and to no avail....you don't know what is causing this issue....can I help you out with this? LG-14AW3 Dishwasher does not drain properly and then powers itself off mid cycle. Filters are clean and there are no kinks in the drain hose. How do you fix this and will it be very expensive.

Have you recently replaced the garbage disposal? Sometimes the installer forgets to remove the knockout plug. All of the disposal manufacturers plug the d/w connection in case it is installed where there is no d/w. If there is a d/w, the plug must be removed.
