We just had this problem and we fixed it by peeling off the soft rubber covering (the part you press the glass against)and then putting it back on. There is a plastic tab beneath that could get stuck if the rubber part gets an air pocket or bent out of shape. This took 2 minutes and worked like a charm.

Either your water tank in the fridge froze up, the waterline that goes up the freezer door from the bottom hinge froze, or the switch that your glass hits is damaged. Do you hear any humming or noises when you put your glass up to get water?

Below is a picture of the fountain parts. I believe the controls inside the fountain are defective and will need replaced. Temporarily disconnect the control valve to the Fountain control plug this will allow the ice maker to continue to work. Let me know if you need more help and assistance to solve this problem. Below is a link to my site, email and a photo of the parts. Thank You, Sea Breeze firstname.lastname@example.org

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.
