Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Business DVD 66J-02289-oem PC Desktop
Windows Vista is ruining my life!!! I recently bought a new Sony Vaio laptop at Best Buy. The guy said it has Vista instead of XP. I asked what that means, he said it's the latest thing, an upgrade, blah blah.
But it is NOT an upgrade. I do digital imaging 12-16 hours every day. My digital imaging program (Microsoft) acts squirrely. I'll be working on something for a long time, and suddenly the screen grays out and I get "Microsoft Digital Imaging has stopped working. We are sorry for the inconvenience" and then my work is lost. (INCONVENIENCE"!?!? I have missed deadlines because of this thing, and my income will show it this year)
My images are all screwed up too. The way I used to organize them is now out the window, and all images are now hijacked by WIndow Photo Gallery, which does not have the capabilities I had before. Also, some images mysteriously move from one album to another and I can't find them when I need them. Entire albums of images I've turned in or am currently working on have just totally disappeared. Sometimes I can find them by doing a search, sometimes not, but the sheer amount of time I have to spend looking for things or redoing them!!!!
And Internet Explorer quits on me too, same grayed screen, same pop-up, and it always says the problem was caused by Windows Vista.
My webcam suddenly quit on me, before I realized Vista had compatibility issues, so I got a new one. The software installed correctly but when I tried to use it, it always said "No webcam is detected" even though it was plugged in properly.
By now I am beginning to realize that all these headaches are caused by VIsta, so I go out and get a cam which is marked "For Windows Vista." Guess what, it doesn't work either. I took it to the Geek Squad and they got it to work, but the next day it was not working again.
I went BACK there and told them I hate Vista and that they should tell people what it means before they buy it. THey said they don't even HAVE any computers without Vista anymore, and neither will anyone else.
There are even more ways Vista is ruining my life, but I'm pretty sure you've heard enough of my whining.
SO my question is: is that true?? Or are Microsoft and Best Buy in collusion? if I do get a new computer and put XP on it, is that a dumb idea?
If u have to install xp call me i have good solutions on this

Because you have Vista Business on your computer, the Windows licence allows you to use the same license key (using the Downgrade License section) for an installation of Windows XP. With this, if you ever do decide to go back up to Vista you won't have to buy another license for it.

I don't really have a solution, but, you can still buy new computers with XP operating systems. On Dell"s website there is an option on the main page (in small print) that allows you to configure your purchase using XP rather than VISTA. The latest information I have found regarding support by Microsoft for the XP platform is that they will continue updates until 2014. You may not be able to buy a non-VISTA computer in a retail store, but I'm sure you can buy it thru websites such as DELL and CDW. Good luck.

Vista is a huge change for you then. I understand your frustration.
It really just depends on what your used to, your PC specs,etcs..
You do not need to buy a new computer just to have XP.
What you can do is erase Vista off the new sony, and install XP. I can help guild you if you like, on the phone it's almost a 1-3 hour talk. Depending on your experience etc..
It's an easy process downgrading to XP, all you need is:
1.A XP Disk.(The Windows XP Operating System Disk)
That's it, you get that and we can down grade your Sony to XP.
I recommend people get vista for a secondary PC like have a desktop that you do your work on, and if you have a laptop get vista on it as your personal computer. But on the desktop being your work keep it as is.
Let us know what you decide,
Thanks and I hope this helps,

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
