SOURCE: how to descale Saeco Spidem Villa

Hi
Don't use vinegar. Its only 5% acid at full strength and if you mix it with water a lot less. It also leaves an after taste for about 2 weeks. Use descaling powder or other products especially made for espresso machines.
Remember, it is better to descale more often than not enough.
1. To decalcify your boiler, remove your water tank and fill it with hot water (100 to 120 degrees). Open a pack of decalcifier and mix into the water tank. Once it is dissolved, place the tank back on the machine, and then turn the machine on.
2. If you just open the steam knob and run approximately eight ounces of solution into a spare container. Turn the machine off and let set about 10 to 15 minutes. Longer is better. It is very important that the machine does not remain on to heat the boiler anymore than necessary.
3. Repeat step #2 for your machine. Do this until you have consumed the entire water tank of solution (approximately four to five cycles). (I do it at night before I go to bed and let the last cycle set in the boiler till morning.)
4. Remove water tank and rinse it with fresh water.
5. Refill water tank with fresh water and place it back on the machine.
Repeat step #2 to rinse the machine, only this time use the entire water tank at one time, and there is no need to let it set.

SOURCE: Descale red light, wont go off, and can i use any delcale tabs

Solution: Just refill the water tank with water (no descaling solution) all the way to the "Max Line". Then run the full descaling program again --takes approx. 20 minutes. After the program runs completely you will get the yellow "standby" light on and the red "descaling" light will be off.

Next time you descale, be sure and fill your water tank to the "Max Line" before running the descaling program.
Hint: An incomplete cycle (not full tank) is what makes the red light stay on. In other words, it's staying red to tell you to run a full cycle (beginning with the water tank filled to the "Max Line"). Hope this tip is helpful!

Never use vinegar to descale esrpresso machines since will destroy the copper parts in long terms. Vinegar is used onle on plastics and st. steel. Try to use special descaling powder which you can find online in ebay maybe

What can you use to descale coffee machine

Add 50%water and 50% white vinegar to the capacity of the machine, and turn on the Brew power button. This may take time to break up the scale build up. Discard the vinegar mixture and run 2 cycles of full pot fresh water through the machine

Why won't my Nespresso Pixie red low water indicator light go on when tank is near empty?

merely out of curiosity is the light or lights bad? If there's a separate red light you'd need to take it out and use an inexpensive voltmeter to see if it's getting a signal.

Either that or look at it closely next to a light. If you see a bad filament then the bulb needs replacing.

Wont take water from reservoir

You have to descale it, even though the light probably never came on (it never comes on for me). It happens to mine and I refuse to replace it until the descale doesn't work anymore. You need a large bottle of white vinegar. After you have that the first thing I would do is remove all the water, that includes whatever is inside of your machine. Unplug it and tip it over the sink to get the water out. Plug it in again, fill the reservoir with white vinegar. Turn the unit on and cycle it (like you are making coffee) over and over until the light comes on to add water. I would use ALL the vinegar in the bottle. After you run out of vinegar, file the reservoir with water and cycle the machine. Continue to do this until you have filled the reservoir 4 times. It's a little boring, but it should fix the issue.

Can you descale a coffee machine with white vinegor ?

Yes. A 20% solution of white vinegar will descale any coffee maker. I prefer to run straight water for 1 cycle after this process to ensure no vinegar aftertaste remain. I've been using white vinegar to descale my coffee makers for years and it works great.

Red de scaling light won't shut off

Removing the red descaling light is simple.
1. Fill reservoir with half vinegar and half water (no need for the special descaling product from Tassimo).
2. Turn on machine.
3. Insert yellow cleaning disc found in back of machine.
4. This is where most people have the their problem...You must hold the start button for 3 to 5 seconds for the descaling program to start. Both green and red light will flash.
5. Once started, use a large cup to catch the output of water.
6. The machine will cycle through the descaling program in about 30 to 45 minutes. Be paitent!!!
7. Once completed, run many cups of plain water through the system to remove the vinegar taste.
8. Red light problem is solved.

Hope this works for you.

Not enough water making it from holding tank to dispensing cup

your machine is "Short Cupping"

It needs to be descaled. Even though the descale light might not be on yet, the descale light only comes on when it is in SERIOUS need of a descaling. You should descale once every 3 months.

Fill reservoir with distilled white vinegar and leave the machine on for 4 hours (make sure to turn off the auto off option).

after 4 hours, run the vinegar through the machine until the reservoir is empty. Refill with water and repeat twice. you will notice a difference right when you start running vinegar through.

How do I get the de scale light to go off at start up?

Hi
The descale light will only go off if you complete a descale on the machine. You will have to go to your owners manual and read how to descale your machine.

Here is a PDF page for Keurig machines if you don't have your manual.

http://www.keurig.com/help/De-scaling_instructions.pdf?mscsid=M01CDDDKUQG48JSQ2VFR393P4B500439

They say to use white vinegar but I recommend Commercial descaler like from Starbucks or you can get it from online vendors. Vinegar leaves a taste unless you get it all out, after a couple of rinsings.

Red descale light is on

I use distilled white vinegar, but you can use specialized coffee cleaners with this model:

Descaling
Descaling 11
Descale your Tassimo machine every three months to keep it
operating at full potential.
1
Descaling products are widely available from stores selling coffeemakers and espresso
machines. Only use a product intended for descaling. Mix the descaling product
directly in the water container, following the instructions provided on the descaling
packaging. Replace the water container on the machine.
2 Place a large cup or mug on the cup stand, insert the cleaning disc, bar code down,
and close the brew mechanism. When the AUTO light illuminates, press and release
the start/stop button. The brew cycle will fill the machine with descaling solution. Empty
the cup and let the machine stand for 15 minutes.
3 Open the brew mechanism and close it again, leaving the cleaning disc in place.
When the AUTO light illuminates, press and release the start/stop button. When the
machine stops running, empty the cup, and let the machine stand for 15 minutes.
Repeat this step two more times for maximum descaling effectiveness. Discard the
remaining descaling agent from the water container, rinse it thoroughly and refill
with fresh, cold water.
4 Open and close the brew mechanism again, leaving the cleaning disc in place.
When the AUTO light illuminates, press and hold the start/stop button to flush water
through the machine. The MANUAL light will flash. When the cup is full, release the
start/stop button, empty the cup, and replace it on the cup stand.
5 Repeat step 4, flushing clean water through the machine in the same manner and
emptying the cup as it fills. To ensure that all the descaling solution is completely rinsed
away, flush two full water containers through the machine before using it again.
