Check you have the correct Operating system and that you have the original game. If you are running the game on a machine with Vista or Win 7 you will have problems. Check this link to see if you have the spec required.

Medieval Lords will not start on vista ... how do I start it?

The game is most likely not compatible with Vista. First port of call should be to try to run the game in compatibility mode, to do this all you have to do is right click on the shortcut on the desktop, click on "Properties" and then goto the "Compatabilty" tab then select the "Compatability Mode" option and from the drop down menu select "Windows XP". Try to launch the game again, if this doesn't work then try re-installing the game.

I have DK "I Love Science", catalogue Number

I bought this cd-rom cheap and tried installing it on my windows 7 pc. I noticed it only says xp and vista on the specifications. This is what I did to get it working.
1. I went to the DK support webbsite at
http://www.avanquest.com/UK/corporate/contact/tech-support.html and registered with my name and email address. I don't know if that is essential as the file can be found here http://www.gspsupport.co.uk/media/patches/DK/WING32.DLL save it to your hard drive or desktop. Now windows 7 would not let me save it to the windows32 folder as I did not have permission even though I am showing as an 'sdministrator'. You need to do the following:- 1. go to the start icon on the bottom left of your screen, type cmd.exe and the file should appear on a list. Right click on the cmd.exe file and click on 'run as administrator' then a small 'dos based' window (for you old computer users) and type in the following at the 'command line':- net user administrator /active:yes
then log off, then log back on, you will have the choice of logging on as yourself or the administrator. Log on as the administrator, copy the wing32.dll file into the c:/windows/windows32 folder.

You will want to turn off the adminstrator account as it is too dangerous unless you are the only user of your machine. To turn off just go to the start > typr cmd.exe, right click on the cmd.exe file and 'run as administrator' again and type into the command line:- net user administrator /active:no
then log off and back in as yourself and it should work. Saved me $3.99 as I would have thrown the disc into the bin,

Medieval lords not running

Hello wilsonpaul74

As far as I know, there isn't a patch for Windows 7. Have you tried running it in compatibility mode? There are two ways to do this:

OPTION 1 - TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY

1. Right click on the programs shortcut, .EXE file, or installation program, and click on Troubleshoot compatibility. N.B. You will not have the Troubleshoot compatibility option available for pinned items in the Start Menu or on the Task Bar.

2. The wizard will now give you a list of options to choose from. Try each individual option, following the on-screen instructions.

If this doesn't work, you can try the following option.

OPTION 2 - THROUGH THE PROPERTIES PAGE

1. Right click on the programs shortcut, .EXE file, or installation program.

2. Click on Properties.

3. Click on the Compatibility tab.

4. Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box.

5. Click on the drop-down menu arrow, and select which version of Windows the game was made for. N.B. Always pick the latest Windows version the game was made for a better chance of it running properly.

I hope this helps. If you require further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.
