Forgot my password, need a reset code

Hello,

The Garmin security lock can only be unlocked or changed with the 4 digit pass code.
The pass code can only be reset by entering the original pass code or sending it to Garmin to be reset.

Unless you created a security location there is not way to reset the password other than having Garmin do it for you. When you set your password your GPS would have given you the chance to set a location. That way if you forgot your password you could drive to your location and be able to turn on and use your GPS without inputting the code. You could then go through the menu system and wipe out the need for a password. Now you'll have to send your GPS, along with your receipt, to Garmin, They will reset your password for you and send the unit back to you.

Yes, take the unit back to the security location you set, and it will automatically unlock and you can then reset the password code.

You cannot do nat, to prevent stolen garmins to be sold. Send it tro Garmin and the will help You!

When you went through the password process you also had to set up your secret place in case you forgot your password. Go to your secret place and your Garmin will unlock and you can reset your password.

This is a scripted massage, take what you need from it.

If it is the garmin lock you are referring to, you need to enter the security number you programmed into in on initial set up. If you do not have or remember the code, then the GPS must be turned on in its secure site, this is where ever you were when you set up the garmin. Driveway, backyard, etc. If you don't have access to either of these then the unit has to be returned to garmin to have it unlocked.

Basically, if you want to turn the system on, just return to your "Security Location."

If you want to reset the 4-digit code you will need to send your nuvi to Garmin and provide proof of purchase or valid registration.

if you hold the reset button down for 2 hours 30 mins the garmin's entire system resets and you start from scratch

you need to return to the location (home) where you set the password. At home location, it does not ask for password.
