Wow. I just remove the rear panel and the drain hole was completely covered in ice. I have cleared the drain. This will in turn help the refrigerator side get cool again?

Thank you so mich. Sure beats calling a repairman!

That rear panel does not want to go back on as easily as it came off! I am going to leave it unscrewed for now in case I have to look at it again. Now, is this an underlying cause of a bigger problem or just something that happens now and then. Just want to be prepared if this may mean the end of the frig's life soon!

Hi, if the freezer has ice on the bottom, you nees to clear the drain hole.
Remove the rear panel and remove all the ice. After the ice is out of the drain hole, try and flush it real god (baisting seringe works great) with hot water. If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks
Vic

Nah, you should be ok. Just make sure you fushed the drain. Another this ya might want to look at is, remove the rear cover behind the fridge. Try and locate the drain hose and make sure that it is not position in a way that it resticts drainage.

WHY IS FREEZER COOLING BUT REFRIGERATOR IS NOT?

Look for ice build up on the back of the freezer panel. if there is ice or snow the defrost system has failed. if there is no ice then it could be a fan that has failed. Worst case is an inneffiecient compressor.

I have this Refrigerator, Whirlpool GS6SHAXMQ Side by Side and the chill side does not cool.No alarm and freezer side is fine.

Although the freezer size seems to be fine, it is probably the problem! All the cooling comes from the freezer side into the chill side. So first make sure that the fan is operating, so that cold air is blown into the fresh food side. Then check the ice build up on the evaporator coils (behind shield in the upper section of the freezer). If there is a lot of ice, maual defrost it by unplugging from power and using a hair dryer or heat gun - make sure you are ready to deal with all the water! The ice build up is caused by a failure of the defrost circuit which is made up of the defrost heater, defrost thermostat and a defrost timer that is part of the control board on your unit.
Hope this helps!

Whirlpool gold refrigerator is not cooling ice build up in freezer. Water on bottom of refrigerator.

Too much build of ice in freezer will not cooled the refrigerator side, you need to defrost the fridge. Set it to proper temp setting, just enough to have ice on the freezer and also remove water on the bottom.
Thanks for asking.

Kitchenaid KSRA25IL Freezer working Fine - Refrigerator not

many times when a unit has a defrost problem the coils freeze up and do not allow the fresh food side to cool properly...check for a build up of ice on the inside back wall of the freezer compartment. if there is a build up of ice, you have a defrost problem. Also, check to make sure the evaporator fan in the freezer is blowing the air into the fresh food side.
