Yes, we do have a CD burner installed.

We are using CD-Rs to burn onto (has worked previously)

    Yes, using Windows XP

    Built-in burner

Burning music and images. (music worked previously)

No error message, just continuously told to insert a blank disk, even when a blank disc has been inserted.

Do you have a CD-Burner installed? Are you using a CD-R or CD-RW disk? Are you using Windows XP's built-in burning function or a third-party application? Are you trying to burn files, music, movies, or an image?

    What error-message do you get?

    What CD-writer (or DVD-writer) manfacturer & model?

What type of writable disks are you using?

What software (AShampoo, Nero, et cetera) are you using to create/burn the disks?

I need to burn a DVD, a CD, How do I have a copy of Nero smart?

Windows XP supports CD burning.
All you have to do is drag the files to the CD and it will ask you if you want to burn them. Tell it yes.
You don't need special software. If you want CD burning software, you will have to buy it--probably Amazon.com is the best bet.

This is a disk error issue make sure if on windows you have the drivers for your CD drive(start>right click computer>click device manager) and also try an different make of blank disk.

TDK maxel and sony disks are notoriously bad on burning..

verbatin and imation disks burn without this error, stick to CD-R or CD+R disks the re-writables are notrious for not writing properly

How to use my cd burner

Windows XP has built-in CD/DVD burning support, but it is very basic. Simply right-click on any file you wish to burn and choose "Send To" then select your DVD drive. Doing this will add the files to your "burn queue". At any time after that, you can click "File" then choose "Write Files..."

Or, you can use a better program like Nero or Alcohol 120 ...or about 1000 other CD/DVD burning programs on the internet. It's really a matter of personal preference, and price :)

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)
