50 inch Insignia Plasma TV that clicks intermittently as if the power switch is being hit, even while it's off. It also only comes on, on occasion. From what I can see, there's a two stage power sup

The problem first showed up and the green light would flash for more than 5 times before the second part of the power would kick in.

Sorry for being vague. It's the second stage of powering on that doesn't always work correctly. When that works fine, the TV works. When it doesn't, there is no picture. It clicks at various times when the TV is off but plugged in, but does not come on by itself, which is what it may have seem like I said, Thank you.

Check both power units for dry joints and caps going faulty. as this is most likely a problem. its because Plasma screens get so hot they cause these problems.

SOURCE: 26" Insignia LCD TV will not power up. Green Light Blinks 1x

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

Since the power light is on the standby circuit is working fine and it is cutting up on powering the circuits, so either it could be a safety trigger or a failer. you will need to cross check by omission flow charting to find out if it is the Main power or the drive power.Check for dry joints or loose connection by tapping the main board to see any reaction to start up. good luck

Philips 50 Inch Plasma Model 50PF7320A/37 will not turn on

Commonly it's going to be a power supply related problem. The two boards that need to be looked at is the Main Power Supply Board or the power supply board for the screen. The one that powers the screen, some manufactures call it a Backlight Inverter Board.
If you have some electronic experience, you can sometimes find a Service Manual for the TV over the internet for less than $20. It will have the all resource material for repairing your TV model. It's just the matter of replacing the bad part on the circuit board.

Insignia flat panel tv

I don't exactly know your model. I can give you a generic type answer.

I can tell you that when you select to have the full screen, it may not work in the mode for the tuner. The reason is that the programs coming in from your tuner are actualy 4:3. When asking for a full screen you are asking for a 16:9 type format. This would stretch a 4:3 picture.

Have you tried contacting the manufacture, or if you know their local factory support place for your area?

Panasonic 50 inch plasma

You should call for warranty service. If the set is very new try to get it exchanged.

There are some very heavy duty power supplies and many high power matrix drivers used in Plasma sets.

The description sounds like the noises are very loud. It is normal with any of these TV sets, if you put your ear right up to the back of the set at the vent holes you will hear some noises. These would be some acoustic harmonics from the power supplies and related circuits.

I am wondering if it is possible that there is something that is becoming less stable. If the set is working very well without any failure, so-far this is a very good sign. Before it gets to be a problem, I would have this checked.

On many models of these sets, they use fans for cooling specific areas. A bad fan can cause noise.
