Fat 32 is the Format style used for several Solid State drives. This is NOT relative to Space on the drive. Space is Related to what we call a Partition. If the entire drive is partitioned to the max., you will not get a total of 100% (1000G) but somewhat less. Insert the USB drive and when you find it in the File Explorer, find the Drive and Rt.Click. Select Format from the listing. Use the Option "Restore Device Defaults".

External HD isnt recognized by ps3

Hmm, go to Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Disk Management. Then look or scroll down right hand panel to find your disk. If it is there you could RIGHT click on it and assign a new drive letter such as Q or R.
If it's not there your external disk could be faulty, the power supply transformer or power cable could be faulty or it could be the USB cable.
If all looks OK you probably need to contact a disk recovery specialist such as DATA365.

Comment: NTFS is a much more stable file system and is much easier to recover after errors. FAT32 is not commonly used now.

Windows xp backup utility

1st possible solution: Check your hard drive(s) and partitions for errors. You can do this by going to My Computer > right click on a drive > Properties > 'Tools' tab > Check Disk or Check Now
2nd possible solution: You may have backed up your files from an NTFS system and are trying to restore to a FAT32 system. If so, convert your computer to NTFS by right clicking on 'My Computer' > Manage > Storage > Disk Management> Right click on your primary drive > and select convert to NTFS.

Oo.comhi. if i delete my files from SDR-H85 PANASONIC how i will recover back without problem. i did with one program but didnt help.

http://majorgeeks.com/FreeUndelete_d4407.html

FreeUndelete restores deleted files, including those removed from Windows Recycle Bin. In case of accidental removal of files on a NTFS (1.0 and 2.0) (default for Windows Vista , XP, 2000 and NT), FAT32, FAT16 or FAT12 file systems this is the utility to help.
Supported file systems:
NTFS 1.0, NTFS 2.0, FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32
The recovered files are saved into a new user-selected location to prevent overwriting the deleted files on the original media. hope this helps

It got formatted to NTFS and I lost everything...Can I get back to original Fat32 and restore files?

The is a very good program called Filescavenger which will recover files from your disk. I know I have used it and on a verbatim 1TB. The problem I have is that my Verbatim 1TB Model53018 keeps losing its visibility in windows and I have to recover all the files and transfering to another disk!!! Its just bollocks and I won't be buying another one of these **** things. Pay more and get a reliable disk. If Verbatim want to send me a fix... feel free and I might take down this comment. steve@bar-telly.com

How can i format 1TB Toshiba Canvio portable hard drive to FAT32

Right Click on your new drive in the Computer

Choose a File System (NTFS is ideal most cases) and give the new volume a name if you choose. You might like to call it something like "Portable Drive," or "Removeable Drive." If not, just take the defaults and click "OK."

You will get one last warning that you are about to format your drive and erase all data. Click OK to proceed. When you see the process has reached 100%, you are done and you're new external hard drive is ready to use!

At start up, screen does not get psat the Toshiba screen

Hello

This radical resetting of the computer is called a system recovery (not a system restore) This will put your computer back to factory settings but you will lose any files on your Hard Drive like pictures, music and word documents.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS :Some older computers and ALL Toshiba laptops come with a system restore disk. Simply place the disk in the CD tray and hit ENTER, if that does not work, power the computer off and on with the disk in the tray, wait for the special system recovery screen to appear, (be patient)

If you were not issued with a disk, then the following is for you.
Each computer manufacturer has a special key you have to hit WHEN YOU POWER ON the computer.

Toshiba laptop is F12

Here is the trick- power the computer off, and then power it back on and start tapping the F12 key until a screen pops up saying "DO YOU WANT TO DO A SYSTEM RESTORE" OR "WELCOME TO SYSTEM RECOVERY MANAGER" Once you see something appear on the screen, stop tapping and just follow the instructions. Some of the older computers may ask you for the restore disks so have those ready. Most newer computers do not need restore discs. The whole system restore could take 2 or 3 hours. When done, reboot your computer and it should be all new and speedy again.

Hello i plug my lacie 1tb external hard drive into my ps3 and it does not get regconise but when i plug it into my pc it works perfectly

ps3 is designed to take certain drive formats. I'm no sure which ones but you could test. Just back up all the files and reformat it with FAT32, FAT...and if it doesn't work just restore the files because gaming consoles were never designed to take externals used by computers.

Phillips 1TB HDD problem, playing movies hrough DVD player (USB)

My question would be are the movies in the right format. Just because they play on your computer does not mean they will play on you DVD.NTFS or FAT 32 would have no bearing on this. They are simply data per sector protocols and are related to magnetic storage devices. You may need the proper codec for you computer so it can make a DVD you player can play.
