Can't start windows normally and restore points will not work

I reinstalled Windows a couple of weeks ago bc I was having a lot of computer problems. Now, when I installed automatic updates and was told to restart my computer, I keep getting a black and white screen that reads Start windows normally, Safemode, Safemode with networking, etc. I couldn't get it to start normally (kept going back to same screen) so now the only way i can get online is by using safemode with networking. I tried to restore my computer to a previous state but none of the restore points would work...and i just kept having to go through the same thing over and over. HELP PLEASE!

Can I reset my Acer aspire windows 7 to anearlier date without resetting to factory settings?

It really depends on what you mean by reset to an earlier date.
check out System Restore and see if this does what you want.
How To Use System Restore in Windows
Please note that as part of the process, the registry is replaced with an old copy. This means that if you installed new software last week and you restore to a point 10 days ago, the software you installed will no long work right because all the registry entries created at installation will be gone. You will have to reinstall that software.

I have no sound on my computer

If this problem just happened a couple of days ago and your computer sound is working fine before then you can do a System Restore to bring back previous setting of your computer where the sounds works fine. HOW?

Important: System Restore will delete recent program installed or recent changes you made in your computer depending on your date of restoration.

Follow step below: (Windows 7)

1. Navigateto the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools program group.
2. Clickon the System Restore programicon.
3. ClickNext > on the Restoresystem files and settings window.
4. Choosethe restore point that you want to use. Note: Check the Show more restore points checkbox tosee more than the most recent restore points.
5. Click Next >.
6. ClickFinish on the Confirm yourrestore point window to begin the System Restore.
Note: Windows 7 will shut down to complete the SystemRestore so be sure to save any work you might have open in other programsbefore continuing. Important: System Restore will not revert any of your non-systemfiles like documents, email, music, etc. to a previous state. These types filesare completely unaffected by System Restore. If your intention with this toolwas to recover a deleted non-system file, try using a file recoveryprogram instead of System Restore.
7. ClickYes to the Once started,System Restore cannot be interrupted. Do you want to continue? dialog box.
8. SystemRestore will now restore Windows 7 to the state that was recorded in therestore point you chose in Step 4. Note: The System Restore process could take several minutesas you see the "Please wait while your Windows files and settings arebeing restored" message. Your computer will then reboot as normal whencomplete.
9. Immediatelyafter logging in to Windows 7 after the reboot, you should see a message that SystemRestore completed successfully.
10. ClickClose.
11. Checkto see if whatever Windows 7 problem you were troubleshooting has beencorrected by this System Restore.

Hi

I believe it was corrupted for some reason, the best solution is to run system restore point. Just go to start menu, choose accessories, choose system tool and choose system restore and choose the restore point date which you computer fine. It will back to normal.

Sir my window 7 is currepted what can i dorahul

Hi,

If your Windows 7 is corrupted you may have a couple of options. The most extreme, but fairly simple is to reinstall Windows. If data is not backed up, however, you may lose this. You will need your Windows 7 CD/DVD to reinstall Windows. Insert the disc into your Computer, reboot the computer and go into your BIOS. Set the computer to boot from the CD/DVD drive first. Once your computer reboots it should boot into the CD and start the install process. You may have a recovery option here.

Another option is to use System Restore which is a built in Windows Utility. To use System Restore go to Start > Programs > Accessories or Administrative Tools and choose System Restore. Alternatively, you can go to Start and in the search box type System Restore. Select a Restore point before your system was corrupted and see if this resolves your issue.

If you can't boot into Windows then you will need to boot into Safe mode to work on the problem. While the computer is rebooting keep pressing F8 and you will get a menu. Choose Safe Mode at this menu and then perform your troubleshooting.

If that doesn't solve it, try rolling the driver back to the previous driver(for the ATI radeon card) as some times updates are just no good for your needs as I have found recently.

Uninstall any and all "Norton" application from your computer using the "Norton uninstaller". Then reinstall the network adapter drivers.
The norton firewall causes a HUGE LOT of problems to the network adapters.
Get another security solution, other than any "norton" product.

E-Machine T2893 keeps restarting after rest=ore

I don't think the problem is with the motherboard. It's likely that you have a corrupt Windows installation and that reinstalling Windows will fix it. Unfortunately reinstalling Windows will also erase any data you have on your hard drive. Do you have access to another drive that has windows installed already? You could try installing the other drive to rule out a faulty motherboard, but I think it's likely a Windows problem.

LinkedIn tanks at log in w/ Windows Vista, fine with prior operating systems

Hello,
It sounds like you have connection issues.
For starter please consider disabling your firewall (under control panel) then try connecting.
If this doesn't work please try reseting internet explorer settings (under explorer-tools).
Check with tech support of linkedln to see if they require special internet explorer security settings and have them walk you through your settings to make sure nothing has changed.
Last but not least I'd try to go to system restore and restore to a point where you are sure evrything had worked like couple of weeks ago or even one month ago if possible.
(start-programs-accessories-system tools-system restore).
The system restore tool doesn't erase or change any data although if installed any program since that point you are going to have to reinstall it since system restore will restore all registry information to that specific point and disregard everything you did afterwards, therefor I'm going to have to tell you to use at your own risk.
Good luck.
Thank you for using agadycom.

My home pc trouble in windows xp professional

Hi chirutha,

Which version of Windows are you running? I would suggest running System Restore to a point maybe a week ago and then trying it again. You can find System Restore from your Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools menu. System Restore for Windows is non-destructive and won't delete any data files (music, pictures, documents) that you've put on the computer. It's also reversible.

You can also access System Restore directly from booting into Safe Mode (after the system POST startup messages run when the computer is booted up, press F8 until the Windows Boot Menu comes up and select Safe Mode).

If you can't power your computer down, hold your breath and then hold the main power button for five seconds and it will shut down.
