SOURCE: Rainbow SE power nozzle

If the brush is spinning ok, and the belt isn't slipping, then probably the circuit breaker is bad, or the motor is causing the problem.

SOURCE: E2 Rainbow vacuum motor protector

Some possible ideas:
Make sure the cone shaped air impeller does not have hair/thread/fibers wrapped around it. This will cause the motor to work harder, and trip the protector.
Make sure you are not overfilling the vacuum with water. If the water is touching the impeller, that will also cause it to move slower, and trip the protector.
Other than that, i'd have to examine it.
Hope that helps!

SOURCE: weak suction on rainbow se vacuum

With years of use, you will collect a layer of "micro dust" on the impeller (the fan part) which reduces the efficiency. A toothbrush and some mild cleaner with gently scrubbing will restore it's power.
The impeller is that parts that spins that you can see when you take the top off to fill the water tank.
Hope this is the answer that you need!

While vacuuming, the brush roller quit working. Nothing happens when the trigger is activated. New hepa filter and brush roller belt installed. Suction is good.

Does your power nozzle have a red power light on top? Is it light up when you squeeze the trigger? If it does, then there is a good chance that the Circuit Breaker PN2E PN2 is defective. If that is not the problem, then check the hose connection to the front of the Rainbow. Be sure that it has a solid connection. If not, then the contacts can't connect for power.

Rainbow e2 type 12 120v , accidentally plugged into 220v, would barely power up, possibly controller board defective?

probably need both as the extra 100 volts would burn the board and the motor
it is never advisable to buy electric equipment from another country because of the voltage differences but even then the plugs are made different so that the cord will not plug directly into the power outlet.

Will D4c se plug into D4c

The Rainbow D4, D4C and SE all are the same vacuum base, only changes were made to the nozzle. As long as the nozzle cord on your D4 has 2 prongs, not 3 prongs you can use the D4 nozzle that looks like This or the SE PE (SE Performance) Nozzle that looks This

On my rainbow e series the power nozzle roller isn't spinning when I press the trigger even though all power is working fine. The roller is fairly new. I've also checked that nothing is blocking the hose...

Power must run from the vacuum through the hose where the trigger mechanism closes the circuit and allows power to pass through the hose to the wand, then to the power nozzle. A short or bad connection in any of these areas will cause the power nozzle motor to not run.

Electric hose on rainbow not working

Be sure to have a solid connection and that you hear two clicks when connecting your electric hose to the front of the main unit. If this connection is not solid, then the receptacles can not make contact. Try bypassing the hose and plug your power nozzle directly into the front of the main unit to confirm that the hose is the issue.

Rainbow vacuum-water not spinning

Remove hose and turn on the unit with nothing on the intake - see if it helps - feel the suction with hand.

a) If it works fine without the hose - look for a clog in the hose, wand or the nozzle

b) If the suction is weak even without the hose:
Clean the separator,
If this is e-series or E2 Rainbow - remove HEPA and try vacuuming without it (sometimes it is too dirty so stops good airflow). New HEPAs HERE.
If this is SE Rainbow - remove exhaust cap and if there is a sponge - take it out

Still no luck - It has to be serviced

Good Luck,

Vacuumed with power nozzle one day working fine took attachment off to use crevice tool reattached power nozzle and no power whatsoever.

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Rainbow E Series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum. The Rainbow Power Nozzle does have a reset button on the newer model on the top of the power nozzle, just push it and it should reset, or check all your pigtail connections to make sure they are connection and the cord leading to the actual Rainbow Vacuum itself. Out in left field might be that the power nozzle motor could be shorting out or not working or dead and might be in need of replacement. Check the cord for any frays or bad connections. If you have a problem please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

No power to scrubber head

Hi Dennis_b,

to continue checking that problem, please see, with an electrical screwdriver, if the machine has energy where the scrubber connects. If yes, the problem is in the scruber; if no, the problem is in the machine, where a red and a black wire makes the connection since the electrical extension to the scrubber connetion, passing thru the swich. it makes me to think in various problems. Even a broken wire can make a malfunction.

Power nozzle don't work

I don't know which model you have or how old it is, but most models have a cord on the hose that plugs into a receptacle on the main machine. Sometimes they can look like they're plugged in when in fact they're just barely hanging there. You could also check the cord at the powerhead. Because the cord flexes with the motion of vacuuming, the cords can break inside. Wiggle the cord while the machine is running and if the cord is defective, the powerhead is start and stop. On some models, there is a switch on the hose handle to turn the nozzle off and on, and these are prone to failure. Also, there should be a reset on the top right hand side of the nozzle, but if this kicked out, it indicates a motor or electrical problem and should be addressed by a service person. If your powerhead has this reset, it's possible that the reset is sticking. Push it down a couple of times and see if that helps.
