I am locked out of my bios

without knowing which scanner you talking about, i am assuming you have forgot the system password for the EPROM/;BIOS. Same procedure as motherboard, remove AC power, locate CMOS battery - likely a round lithium tablet, remove for 1 minute, replace, plug AC power back in. should be reset.

I'm having trouble removing a bios password from my latitude d631. I tried removing the battery for a few hours, and dozens of default master passwords. Nothing's worked and this is alot of trouble just to...

there are a few options, if there is no small battery on the motherboard you can either replace the eprom chip or do a paperclip trick. on ebay there are password removal sellers for around $20
sometimes they can help , but it sounds like its locked in you eprom the paperclip trick involves removing the motherboard and powering on the laptop while jumping the pins on the eprom chip with a paperclip.

Morning can you please assist me on my Dell latitude D620 to locate which one is the Bios Chip and the EPROM for the bios. I need to remove the bios password

A faulty alternator in the engine of the car can also reduce the life of a battery. If it does not produce enough charge to supply enough Dell Inspiron 1501 Battery, the weight will gradually uncharged sulfate, which means that the capacity over time the battery will be less and less until it is practically useless . The batteries that are smaller will prove cold weather, a battery uses more charge to deliver a cold engine and if it does not have enough power, the engine will not start.

The supervisor (SVP) password is stored in a chip called 24RF08.It can not be reset by disconnecting the BIOS battery or shorting any jumper.

We bought a magnavox tv from a hotel and some channels are blocked and we can't get all of our cable channels. Is there a way to reprogram the tv? It is a 25' and it's about 10 years old and in good shape....

the eprom that holds the stored codes needs to be wiped clean or re-set...unfortunately, unless the original remote is available to get into the menu...it will have to be done manually by a technician. the set needs to be opened, the eprom located, the proper pin-outs located and then proceed with resetting. if the eprom is an older type, then the codes were usually held there by a back up battery or super cap...in which case, you just need to remove the battery or super cap for a couple minutes.

I have a small Orion TV, model TV 1334A. Everytime I move the darn thing I have to set it up again! Hope you have directions I can print out, this drives me nuts!!! I can't afford another TV right now....

I have not worked on your model. I will answer genericaly:

If you are not used to doing TV service you will have to give the set to a TV service center to fix this.

On many of these types of sets on the main board or a daughter board there is a silver oxide battery that is like a calculator battery.

If you are able to work on the set, open it up and look for this battery. If there is a battery in your set, take note of the number on it. You can get one and then replace it.

If your set is a model that does not use a battery, there are two other ways memory is held. Some models use a gold leaf capacitor. It will take TV service experience to be able to locate and change this capacitor. This type of cap would be a special order from a parts supplier.

The other method is they store the setup in an EPROM. In this case the EPROM or the uPC can have a fault. In this case servicing the set would be not feasible.

U2 PROBLEM blinking U2 and will not print

U2 RAM error
U2-00 EPROM error
U2-01 Counter error
U2-01 Memory back-up battery dead
U2-04 EPROM error
U2-11 Main counter error
U2-12 EPROM error

As you can see there are many U2 error codes. Needless to say, find your code and the replace the bad part. The battery is on the main board. The EPROM is on the main board.
If you find your code, replace the part and error still remains -- replace main board.

Try removing the backup battery for the bios and the main battery. The bios battery is a small little lithium battery usually located under the memory access panel. Killing the bios backup power causes it to lose its memory and go back to default, AKA No More Password. If this does not work you must find the security eeprom located somewhere on the motherboard and short pin 3 to pin 6 with a paper clip and power up. This will set the security eeprom back to manufacturing mode and once again, no more password.
In the most extreme cases the eeprom actually has to be replaced, this only occurs on very high end units. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Good luck.
George
Ps. you can find the location of the eeprom easy just google for your model laptops security eprom.

DS will not keep settings

the main battery is the only battery that keeps the DS memory there is no internal clock battery or anything so it will most likley be your main battery that is dead.

Quick point though, if this is the case your DS should not boot. if it does boot and the settings are lost then I would check the battery terminals to make sure they are connecting okay.

Other than this it could be an eprom on the main board at fault maybe.

Good luck
