John make sure the drain line under the sink and unit haven't been pinched from stuff under the sink in particular. Check where the drain hose attaches to drain under sink and take it off and make sure it's clear. It is one of the most common areas where the drain hose gets clogged at the connection or in line at a sharp kink in the hose. If the unit is not running then the problem is there and if the unit makes no noise when in pump mode you should be able to tell. That could indicate a bad pump or switching issue from clean to empty. Now for the occasional weird things that happen. In the bottom of the dishwasher is a screen of sorts that keeps large objects from getting into the pump. I have on occasion found that screen so full of food particles that the water can't get to the pump. Most dishwashers have a mulching type unit on the pump to help chop food up but if the stuff can't get to it, it clogs. I know of 2 units that ruined the pump from running them dry and in both, food clog was the problem. The screen is readily accessible and a semi- soft brush and hot water should clear it. The reason this happens is the food gets baked on the screen when the unit goes into dry mode. Like I said it's not real common but if all else says the unit should empty, check this.

John, things to check. Remove the drain hose at the sink drain and make sure it's not clogged there, or "kinked" under the sink, it happens sometimes. First though, check the drain screen in the bottom of the unit. I have had 2 customers in the past with units so clogged with food baked on in dry cycle, that the water could not get into the pump. Newer units have a larger opening. Some older units had a screen with small holes. I am assuming the unit is running and trying to pump. People sometimes complain there is food on the dishes after running and each time it has been because the food is stuck in the face of the screen. If not then the problem is a little more technical and could be a switching issue in the controls of the pump. The pump may be worn out or Check whether the pump sounds like it's running when it should. If it's the pump or control, it's not always an easy DIY job. The solenoid which switches from "clean" to "Empty" can go bad and that means replacing the pump. Based on your problem description I tried to give some easy possibilities. This is not an exhaustive list of possible issues but some I've run into over the years that had me stumped for a bit.

My dishwsaher wont drain water

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

My washer has gone through the cycle and the door will not unlock. Please help.

TYpically the door wont unlock due to not all the water draining from the tub so the water level switch isn't satisfied the water has drained and wont allow the door to unlock.

The most likely problem is that the drain pump screen is clogged so its not draining and if it isn't draining it wont spin.
To check the pump remove the lower panel and the lower right side will be the pump, unscrew the big white cap a little and use towel(s) to catch the water that comes out ,when all water out remove completly and check for blockage.

My wf t1001tp wont drain...can anyone help?

sounds like a blocked drain hose or a faulty pump motor..If the machine can be drained by putting the drain hose lower than the water level then the hose is not blocked and it may be the pump...Make sure the hose leaves the machine from under the tub and not high on rear of washer. Obviously water won't flow uphill..If the pump has failed a new pump motor is much cheaper than buying a whole new pump....Nomess

It is most likely that there maybe something blocking the drain. Check the pump and make sure there is nothing inside it preventing the water from draining properly

It wont drain the water away after a wash we

sounds like your pump may be gone, or could be pipe blocked. to check pipe fill machine take outlet pipe at rear of machine and lay this into a bowl. If water flows ok then all pipes are clear. As water is coming through just put machine onto spin cycle and raise hose to see if water will then pump out.
