If you format the hard drive NTFS format you should be able to install Windows XP. If the computer is old, the hardware may not work with Windows XP. Any computer built in last 8-9 years should work with Windows XP.

I put new harddrive in lenovo x60 while ruuning setting for xp installation .set up loading file then setup is starting window i receive following messege stop : 0x0000007B

I think 7b stopcode is hardware failure. Which means your hard drive is bad.

First I would try getting into your BIOS,(pressing F2 or DELETE or something upon turning your PC on) and finding a setting that says "SATA operation".... i think. You are looking for something that gives you 2 choices... either 'AHCI' or 'ATA'. It may not be called SATA operation, but it will definitely say 'AHCI' and 'ATA' as the two choices. Move the selection to whatever one it is not set on. Then try booting normally, or even re-installing again.

Try that BIOS setting first, that may be the only issue.

Good Luck.

Uninstalled blue ooth by accident!

You can try to let your computer detect it as "new". If you start up your computer, go into the control panel and choose the "Add New Hardware" and let the computer try to detect the bluetooth by itself. That's the easiest way. If it doesn't detect it, you can do it manually in the "Add New Hardware" also.

If you know what all is installed for hardware you can check the Windows XP website to see if everything is compatible. Or you could go to manufacturers websites and download the XP drivers to a CD to use after Windows installs, but I would say that the Windows install more than likely has all you need. I ran XP on an old computer for quite awhile before I built my new system. Good luck.

Hi, I have added a USB 2.0 4 port PCI card to my PC, when I run the support disc to add the driver it says no hardware found. All the instructions say are plug in the card and run the disc, is there...

Dear Friend,

If you have windows xp, generally when you add new hardware. Windows does show found new hardware window, where you can select the driver for your new hardware.

Go to control panel=> Add new hardware & then select the appropriate drivers for your card.

Hope this solves your problem.

Toshiba Satellite A75-S206 DVD\CD-RW drive problem

Hello GeneMat,

I am Romeet,i will try and help you with this problem.Seems it could be an issue with the Combo DVD Drive's Driver Software or Firmware.

Try This:

From your Desktop:

Right Click " My Computer" Icon and select "Properties"

Go to "Hardware" Tab and select "Device Manager"

Under Device Manager, scroll down to the "DVD/CDROM Drives" menu and click on the plus ( + ) Sign next to it

Right Click the Drive name eg " Toshiba DVD-R TSST 2313" and select " Uninstall" Click yes to any prompts and restart your Laptop.

After rebooting, Windows XP should pick up the drivers again, so wait a while for it to complete and until it notifies you that " Windows successfully completed installing your new hardware" or something to that effect and then try using the software cds again

Best of luck!
