SOURCE: I have a RCA L42wd250yx6
like a definite power supply issue, if you open the TV, there is
likely a bulging capacitor on the power supply. Even if not a obvious
capacitor problem, the Power board is likely the culprit.
I'd suggest trying to get the repair done outside of a electronic repair shop, they would likely charge upwards $400 for replacing the power supply in most TV
Can buy new one on many websites, or used on ebay.
at Shopjimmy.com you can search based on board #, and will give you list of compatible power boards, as well as a list of any other TV's that use the same power board, that will give you more options as far as finding a cheaper or even a used replacement to keep your costs to a minimum
make sure you buy based on the part # listed on the board, and not by the model number of your TV, as there are usually many sub-models that all have different interior parts, and most are not compatible with each other.
