Was this a BIOS password? (did you have to type a password to boot the laptop into Windows?) If so the password will be a firmware based password that is built into the hard drive, you will need to send to a data recovery company to recover (www.digitalrecovery.co.nz are cheap and good) but if sending to New Zealand is problematic just google local data recovery.
Right, now I'm with you. So this is a Lacie Porsche drive? There should be an option in the software to reformat the drive, since the lock encrypts your files it will need to be reformatted. If you can't find the option try it on another machine without the software installed and just repartition the drive using the Windows disk managment tools or the Mac disk utilities.
