Kenmore 800 grill replaced ignitor i get a spark but it won't light

First and foremost, make sure the gas tank valve is turned ON and that there is adequate gas in the tank. If that all checks out, do the following:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF.

2. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes.

3. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion,
slow).

4. Once the valve is full open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the
burner light and does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same
way. Did all the burners light and the flame heights look normal. I so, you just solved the
problem (with a little help).

Remember to always turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

If it didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Regulator/Hose Assembly. You can purchase on at any home center or hardware store that sell gas grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know and Happy Grilling!!

Gas grill wont lite manuallly

Do you mean it won't match light or the ignitor won't spark and light the burners? Or both?

If it won't match light or the ignitor sparks, but the burners don't light, that means you're not getting gas to the burners.

Check to the tank valve and make sure it's turned ON. Also, make sure that there's gas in the tank.
If both of those check out as OK, turn the gas tank valve OFF. Disconnect the hose from the tank and wait 5 minutes. Reconnect the hose to the tank and turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow). Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn it to HIGH. Did the burner light and the flame height looks correct? If so, light the remaining burners following the same procedure. Now, are they all lit and the flames heights look correct? If so, you solve the problem. Just remember to always open the tank valve very, very slowly.

if the burners failed to light. Remove and clean all the burners, as well as the venturi valve on the open of each burner. Spiders like to build nest in the venturi valves.

if cleaning the burners did not solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's hose/regulator assembly. You can find it in any home center or hardware store that sells gas grills and accessories, for about $30.00. Take you old one with you for comparison purposes.

Hope this helped you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please be kind enough to let me know. Thanks and Happy grilling!!

Ronald, I doubt that the gas regulator has much to do with this problem, unless the tank valve is turned OFF or the gas tank is empty Have you tried match lighting the burners, to determine if you're getting gas to them? Also, check the spark ignitors at each burned for a grease build up. using a cotton ball and alcohol clean each ignitor tip.

If you've checked all of the above and you're now getting a spark at each burner, but little or no gas to the main burners, do the following:

Turn the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (slow motion, slow). Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and turn the burner to the highest setting. Does the flame height look correct? If so, light the remaining burner(s) the same way. Does their flame height look correct? If so, you solved the problem. Remember to always turn the tank valve ON very, very slowly.

Happy Grilling!!

Grill won't ignite. full tank, wires look OK. model is the second smallest weber Q.

If you're not getting any gas at all to the burner and you have a full tank pf LPG ... Turn the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Now, turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (slow motion, slow). Once the tank valve is fully open try lighting the burner. If lights, turn it up to the highest setting. Does the flame height look correct? If so, you solved the problem. Just remember to always turn the tank valve on VERY, VERY SLOWLY.

If you were getting gas to the burner and the ignitor wasn't sparking, pull the wire of the needle like pin on the bottom of the piezo spark ignitor. Then slide it back On. That should solve the sparkless problem.

Hope this helped you solve the problem.

Jenair lp gas drill has good spark and gas but will not light??? it has new burners so everything is clean

My first question ... Is gas getting to the burners? Have you tried match lighting the burners with any success? If "NO" to both, if you're using bottled propane for fuel, is the tank empty or not turned ON?

If the tank has adequate gas, turn the tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Turn the tank valve ON, VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow) until the valve is full open. Turn on and attempt to light the burner farthest from the tank. If it lights, turn it up to high and light the remaining burners the same way. If everything has returned to normal, you've solved the problem. Just remember to always turn the Tank Valve ON, VERY, VERY Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, did you have to remove the piezo ignitors when your replaced the burners. If so, the ignitors need adjusting, so that they are closer to the burner(s)

And, finally, if all of the above fails to solve the problem, you'll need to replace the grill hose/regulator assembly, as the regulator is permanently locked up. If you purchased the grill from Lowe's, you can get the whole assembly from them. Make sure you take the old one with you, so that you can match it up with the new one.

Hope this helps solve your problem and Happy Grilling!!

Igniter turns red but will not fire the burner. Gas is coming out and I've changed the burner with a good burner.

You need to adjust the ignitor so that the flame is closer to the burner. If you try match lighting the burner, does it light? If it does, then the igintor need to be adjusted closer to the burner.

If the spark you see is in the ignitor box and not at the burner(s), then there's a wire loose somewhere or the ignitor is not grounded properly. Also check to see if the ignitor tips in the grill next to burner(s) are covered with grease. If so, clean them with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol. Check each ignitor wire at each ignitor , make sure they are secure,

Hello,
You may have turned the gas tank valve on too fast. Turn it back off, disconnect it and reconnect it. Then very slowly turn the valve back on. Light one burner at a time and turn to low before lighting the next. If you are hearing and smelling gas with the tank on but all grill knobs off, don't use the grill. You may have a leaking grill valve, regulator or hose. If you are only smelling gas with the knobs on, it's possible you have a clogged burner or orifice from bug nests, spiderwebs, etc and need to clean it out first. Hope this helps. Douglas

Ignition

With the gas off, wait til it's getting somewhat dark out, and try the ignitor for the left burner and locate where it's sparking. If it's not positioned properly, or the wire has a short, it will not light the burner. Compare the ignitor positions for the other burners and adjust the sparking position as needed til it lights. Do not leave the gas on for more than 5 sec when trying to light it, so you don't have a build-up of gas and singe yourself.

Genesis s310 stainless grill. Does not fully light.

Regulator is not bad, as I stated before new valves are designed to reduce gas flow if valve is opened to fast. This is so if grill catches on fire, the tank will shut itself off, thus propane will stop flowing causing fire to extinguish itself.
